Memphis Showboats Re-Sign Three Players For 2024 Season

Memphis Showboats Re-Sign Three Players For 2024 Season

The Memphis Showboats have re-signed another group of players, following their move to bring Greg Reaves back just a couple of days ago.

OL Matt Burrell

Matt Burrell is back with the Memphis Showboats, returning for his third year in the USFL. Burrell saw playing time with the Tampa Bay Bandits in 2022, and participated in four games (two starts) for Memphis before getting injured this season.

LB T.J. Neal

TJ Neal has been with the organization for the past two seasons, and now returns for 2024. Neal is a versatile linebacker who has been quite valuable both defensively, and on special teams.

In 2022, Neal finished the season with 19 tackles. This year, he played in all ten games, making four starts. Neal posted 31 tackles and 0.5 sacks during the 2023 USFL season, and looks to build upon that performance heading into 2024.

LS Ryan DiSalvo

Ryan DiSalvo has quietly been one of the most consistent long snappers in the USFL. He’s been with the organization for two seasons, serving Memphis/Tampa Bay with quality special teams play.

Spring football is nothing new for Ryan, who has seen his fair share of teams through the past few years. He played for the San Diego Fleet during the AAF’s 2019 season. He was with the Conquerors in the TSL, and then made the jump to the USFL in 2022.

Long snappers don’t get enough love for the work they do. Memphis Showboats kicker Alex Kessman went on a ridiculous run in 2023, making 22 straight field goal attempts. That wouldn’t have been possible without the excellence of DiSalvo.

Final Thoughts

The Memphis Showboats are starting to make moves as GM Dave Razzano continues to bring key pieces back, alongside signing free agents:

OL Chance Lytle
LB Greg Reaves
S Antonio Fletcher

After an up and down season in 2023, with a final record of 5-5, Memphis will look to make a playoff push in 2024 with a re-tooled roster.
