Memphis Showboats Re-Sign Standout LB Greg Reaves

Memphis Showboats Re-Sign Standout LB Greg Reaves

The Memphis Showboats have re-signed Linebacker Greg Reaves, officially announced by the team on Monday. For Memphis, this is excellent news. Greg Reaves was one of the top linebackers in the USFL this past season, serving Carnell Lake’s defense with consistent play throughout.

Greg Reaves was an absolute stud for the Memphis Showboats. In 2023, he posted:

33 tackles
4.5 sacks
2 interceptions

While the Showboats got off to a rocky start defensively, Greg was a major reason why the unit tightened up during their winning streak. Memphis went 5-0 from weeks four through eight, playing outstanding defense due to playmakers such as Reaves.

Greg Reaves has been with the organization for the past two USFL seasons. He played with the Tampa Bay Bandits in 2022, registering 37 tackles and three sacks then. Reaves also has experience in The Spring League, playing for the Sea Lions in 2021.

In 2023, Reaves was one of the top graded players in Memphis, according to PFF’s numbers. He finished the USFL season with a 81.6 overall grade, which was the third highest on the team.

For the Memphis Showboats, the team is looking to rebound from a disappointing ending in 2023. After a five game winning streak pushed them to 5-3, two losses at the end of the season ultimately left them empty-handed.
