Memphis Showboats Re-Sign Dillon Faamatau & Ravarius Rivers

While the team’s future is uncertain, the Memphis Showboats have been active in UFL free agency over the last week. In their latest batch of re-signings, the Showboats have brought back DT Dillon Faamatau, and S Ravarius Rivers.

To be clear: these transactions do not impact the potential relocation of the Memphis Showboats. If the Showboats move, the team and players will be placed in the new market.

DT Dillon Faamatau

Interestingly enough, Faamatau is back for a fourth season with Memphis. Faamatau joined the Memphis Showboats in 2023, starting in two of four games played with the team. He posted 11 tackles that year, and then proceeded to earn a roster spot with Memphis in the UFL.

He ended up seeing action in seven games, not making any starts. Dillon had an impressive 76.9 Defensive Grade via PFF, totaling 10 tackles.

This past UFL season, Faamatau appeared to step away from football during camp. He was then brought back midway through the year, though, with P.J. Hall’s departure. Dillon had eight tackles and a sack with the Showboats across four games, with six defensive stops via PFF. Faamatau posted a strong 76.0 Defensive Grade in 2025. He’s an underrated D-Lineman in this league, and could be a legitimate starter for the Showboats next season.

S Ravarius Rivers

Rivers was an offseason addition by GM Jim Monos, an All-IFL prospect who won IFL DPOY honors in 2024. He’s a younger player who’s excelled at every level – and was a standout in training camp. DC Jarren Horton spoke highly of what he brought to the table, and was impressed with the improvements he saw throughout camp.

However, with such tight competition between all of the defensive players, Rivers was let go in camp. He was then brought back later in the year, with the release of safety Tenny Adewusi.

Ravarius was primarily on the inactive roster, but was activated for the final game vs. Birmingham. In that matchup, Rivers had three tackles. He’s a “diamond in the rough” type of prospect, who with some more development, could be a bigger piece for Memphis in 2026. Rivers is versatile, and can play both safety and corner.

Final Thoughts

General Manager Jim Monos has been busy over the last couple of weeks, bringing back players for 2026. The Showboats have re-signed athletes such as S Eli Walker, WR Kai Locksley, and P Matt Mengel to name a few. They’ve also brought in a couple of arena stars, including QB Sam Castronova and WR Duane Brown.

Faamatau and Rivers are two players who fit into this Showboats team well, and both could certainly see more playing time in 2026.
