On Tuesday, the UFL dropped a plethora of transactions to the public. Primarily in those were moves from the Birmingham Stallions, Dallas Renegades, Houston Gamblers, Orlando Storm, and St. Louis Battlehawks.
Let’s take a look at how each team is impacted by their respective changes.
Birmingham Stallions
DT Nate Becker, Signed
After the release of Perrion Winfrey, the Stallions re-signed Isaiah Coe – who was with the team in camp. However, since they traded away Amani Bledsoe, another addition was needed. The Stallions have signed Nate Becker, who had a rather unique journey in football so far.
Becker played all of his college ball at Minnesota. He spent his first few seasons as a “heavy” tight end, also seeing snaps on special teams. Becker transitioned to Defensive Tackle for his final season, racking up 11 tackles, 3.5 TFL’s, and a sack with the Golden Gophers. He doesn’t have a ton of experience, but apparently has done enough to get a look from Kevin Sherrer in Birmingham.
Dallas Renegades
LB Andrew Dowell, IR
Andrew Dowell was a starter for Dallas to begin the year. It’s disappointing to see him placed on injured reserve, as he played 100 snaps in just three games. Dowell is an NFL veteran, who spent time with the Memphis Showboats last UFL season. Andrew had 13 tackles with Dallas prior to an injury suffered in week three.
Houston Gamblers
CB Ra’Mello Dotson, Signed
CB Carlton Johnson, Cut
After a rough start to the season, the Gamblers have released cornerback Carlton Johnson. He had originally made his UFL debut in Arlington last year, playing limited minutes (most of which, didn’t go incredibly well). It was the same story this season. He allowed 15 receptions on just 19 targets, with 197 yards and two touchdowns. According to PFF, Carlton had a poor 37.9 PFF Grade.
On the flip-side, the Gamblers have re-signed Ra’Mello Dotson. Dotson was placed on the “retired list” early in camp with Houston, which was a surprise considering how young he still is. Ra’Mello is a PBU machine, which was on display during his entire career as a Jayhawk. Look for Dotson to work his way into the rotation sooner than later in Houston. This secondary needs it.
Orlando Storm
DT Willie Yarbary, IR
Sadly, veteran Willie Yarbary has been placed on injured reserve. He’s out for the season, with a torn bicep. Willie spent four seasons with the Birmingham Stallions, winning three championships. With Orlando, he played in all four games, with a strong 73.0 Defensive Grade. Yarbary totaled five tackles and four QB pressures prior to injury.
St. Louis Battlehawks
S Trey Dean III, Signed
LB Tariq Carpenter, Cut
For a second straight season, Tariq Carpenter has been cut midway through the year. Carpenter was with the San Antonio Brahmas a year ago, and followed LB Coach Will Reed over to St. Louis. Carpenter played just four defensive snaps this season.
On the other hand, it opened up the door for Trey Dean to sign with the Battlehawks. It’s amazing that the DC Defenders never brought him back, given the success he had with the team late in the 2025 season. Dean came up with an interception in their playoff win over St. Louis, sealing their ticket to a Championship.
Trey was signed by the Louisville Kings a couple of weeks ago, but only stuck with the team for one week. He had three tackles on just 12 snaps. Dean is an explosive safety, who can also fill in at linebacker – which is the exact type of prospect that fits Corey Chamblin’s defense (i.e. A.J. Thomas).
