Kurt Hunzeker Responds to XFL Sale — Suggests St. Louis as Bubble Host

This week has been a huge week for XFL fans worldwide. To kick off the week we learned the the league would be purchased by Dany Garcia, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and RedBird Capital for $15 million. Then, to wrap up the week the proposed sale was approved by the judge in the XFL’s bankruptcy case; paving the way for the deal to be finalized by August 21st.

As of now the future of the XFL is still uncertain with the COVID pandemic. Will the league return in 2021 or will they take their time and build towards a 2022 return?

When the league returned earlier this year, the St. Louis BattleHawks were favorites among the fans leading the league in attendance. They were even on pace to sell as many as 50,000 seats for it’s week 7 match-up against the Los Angeles Wildcats. That was, until the XFL was forced to suspend the season after five games due to the coronavirus.

Now that the deal has been approved, former BattleHawks Team President Kurt Hunzeker chimed in to congratulate the new ownership group, as well as give his thoughts on the situation.

First, he brought up all of the folks he worked with to build up the BattleHawks into the team it was saying that they are a main key to the teams success. We tend to agree and it seems that the new ownership is keen on bringing back as many former employees as possible.

At least one other former BattleHawks employee responded as well. Former head of communications, Brian Stull said that if called upon, he among others are ready to get back to work with the organization.

Second, he said that if the league is looking to pursue a bubble concept, then St. Louis is the perfect choice based on the weather controlled dome that the BattleHawks called home in 2020.

These are the types of things you love to see and we hope to see Kurt back in charge of the BattleHawks whenever the XFL does return to action.
