Tuesday brought a couple more transactions to the UFL’s wire, mostly focusing on the offensive line. The Louisville Kings notably signed OT Chim Okorafor, who finally lands on another team in the UFL after being cut in camp.
Chim Okorafor is a potentially game-changing pickup for Louisville. He started for the Michigan Panthers for a couple of years, helping Michigan run one of the top offenses in the league a year ago. Last year, he got off to a rough start allowing two sacks, but turned things around – closing out the season strong.
Chim was with the Dallas Renegades in UFL camp. In fact, he was their first overall pick in the O-Line selections during the draft. However, he ended up being let go – which came as a surprise. Now, with the Kings needing help up front, Okorafor lands with the Kings.
Louisville has also released a couple of players. OL Nate Gilliam was released late last week, and yesterday the Kings terminated Jereme Robinson’s contract. Jereme didn’t play any snaps with the team through two games, and neither did Nate.
Houston & Columbus
The Houston Gamblers have brought back OG Avery Jones. It was strange to see him released in the first place, but now he’s back for a Houston team that saw drastic improvements from week one to two. Avery played 31 snaps in week one, notching a strong 72.6 Offensive Grade.
Meanwhile, the Columbus Aviators have released WR Roc Taylor and DE Quashon Fuller. Fuller was inactive for both of Columbus’ games so far. Taylor, on the other hand, played in both matchups. He had two catches for 23 yards in week one, but didn’t bring in any receptions on three targets vs. DC. At just 23 years old, though, Taylor should find a new home pretty quickly as a professional.
