June Jones Clarifies Reports — Would Return to XFL if Asked

June Jones Set to Return to the XFL a OC of Seattle Franchise

It’s been a long journey since the last time the XFL hit the field. After it was forced into bankruptcy due to COVID, it found a new set of owners in Dany Garcia, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and RedBird Capital.

Earlier this month the XFL revealed a new brand logo and vision. Shortly after, the league announced the eight head coaches that would be leading the teams in their 2023 return.

When the coaches dropped, many were surprised not to see June Jones on the list. He’s been on record of being open to a return. Not to mention… he was undefeated in 2020.

Well, it looks like June Jones is set for a return; but in a new position. XFL Newsroom staffer Jake Henry was quick to notice that June Jones has updated his Twitter bio, in which he states that he’s the offensive coordinator for the XFL’s Seattle franchise.

Event more interesting, he mentions that Jim Haslett is set to be the head coach for the team.

We’ve known that Haslett was coming into the league, but this gives confirmation on where he’s landing. This also shows that Seattle will be one of the cites in the relaunched league.

June Jones has since updated his bio to remove the reference to the XFL. But, this is better confirmation than any.

Last week the XFL executive group met to strategize around the emergence of the USFL. It’s been reported that their discussions included having larger rosters and higher wages. A few days later the ownership group hosted all eight head coaches in Arlington, TX to discuss the new season and ruleset. From this meeting it was revealed that Texas will serve as HQ for the XFL… at least in 2023.

It’s been rumored that the XFL may look to use a hub model similar to the USFL when it returns. That being said, we’ve heard that the league is targeting to house teams in multiple locations in 2023. We’ll just need to wait and see what the league has to say when they’re ready to spill the beans.

With all of the XFL head coaches officially named, we expect to start learning more members of the coaching staffs in the near future. June Jones is the first name to leak, and it’s going to be hard to top.

Does this confirm that the XFL isn’t returning to Houston? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments below or join the conversation on Discord.

  1. WoW !! I’M EXCITED FOR BOTH LEAGUES, SPRING FB IS BACK. I TELL YOU, THE USFL MUST START THE SEASON IN FEBRUARY IF THEY WANT A KICK BACK AT THE END OF THE NFL SEASON. IT KILLS REAL FOOTBALL FANS WHEN THE SB IS OVER. BUT WHEN YOU HAVE THE SPRING LEAGUES TO LOOK FORWARD TO. IT WON’T HURT AS BAD. NOW AFTER WEEK 3 , THE LEAGUE WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH MARCH MADNESS FOR 2-3 WEEKS , BUT FOOTBALL WILL BE ON THE MINDS OF REAL FOOTBALL FANS AFTER THAT. THE SPRING LEAGUE WILL BE PASS MID SEASON AND ALL THE TALK AFTER BASEBALL OPENING DAY WILL BE THE NFL DRAFT AND A HOUR OR TWO OF THEIR COLLEGE SPRING FOOTBALL GAME. SOON AFTER THAT IT WILL BE NFL DRAFT TIME AND THE PLAYOFFS FOR THE SPRING LEAGUES. AFTER THE DRAFT. THE FANS WILL BE LOOKING AT THE SPRING LEAGUE PLAYOFFS FOR PLAYERS THAT CAN HELP THEIR NFL TEAMS. YOU TALKING ABOUT FUN TIMES. THEN SIX WEEKS LATER THE NFL TEAMS WILL BE HEADED TO TRAINING CAMP. THE USFL AND XFL WILL BE WELL ON THEIR WAY OF BEING LEGIT. IN 2024 THE TWO LEAGUE NEED TO COME TOGETHER AS ONE LEAGUE. BOTH LEAGUES SHOULD HAVE 12 TEAMS. THEY MUST GET A TEAM IN MEXICO AND CANADA, BRING BACK THE CHICAGO BLITZ AND PLAY THE GAMES AT WRIGLEY FIELD AND IF THE BLITZ HAVE HOME PLAYOFF GAME AND THE BALL PARK IS NOT AVALIABLE. PLAY THE GAME AT NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY. I ALSO HOPE THEY KEEP A TEAMS IN NEW YORK , DC ,LA AND DON’T FOR GET THE DENVER GOLD.
