At the moment all eyes and ears are on the much anticipated XFL team names. Last week XFL Las Vegas head coach, Rod Wilson, joined the Pat McAfee Show where he mentioned that they would be announced this week.
Since then, the league has started scheduling happy hour events in multiple XFL host cities.
Late Thursday we were the first to report the potential team names, but it looks like we have some more news before those drop.
Last month the league announced that Jordan Palmer would be joining on as Director of Quarterback Development. Fast-forward to present, and Palmer released an interesting video on Instagram earlier today.
The video is captioned “@xfl QBs are at HQ”, and it gives us a glipse into who we may see on the field in 2023.
Here’s the full clip via @MaxScouts from @JwPalms’ Instagram showing some of those working out today for @XFL2023 as potential QBs.
I see Bryan Scott, Ryan Willis, Deondre Francois, D'Eriq King, & Steven Montez sightings to @MLyons0_0 and my eyes, who do YOU see?#XFL#XFL2023 pic.twitter.com/mbjLs8U3DW

Reid of The Markcast was able to identify a good number of the folks in the room. He lists off Bryan Scott, D’Eriq King, Deondre Francois, Ryan Willis and Steven Montez.
Additionally, we’ve identified Drew Plitt, who played for Ball State and had a short stint with the Cinncinatti Bengals in the off-season.
Bryan Scott most recently comes off an injury, which he sustained playing for the USFL’s Philadelphia Stars. The team went onto the Championship. Unfortunately Case Cookus ended up breaking his leg with the team narrowly losing to the Birmingham Stallions.
Ryan Willis was notably the Mega Bowl MVP after securing The Spring League Championship for the Linemen in 2021.
In 2020 the XFL assigned a tier 1 quarterback to each franchise. Is this a sign that theyt could be planning to utilize the same strategy? With the draft set for November 16th, it seems like we won’t need to wait much longer to find out.
