Houston Roughnecks Sign OL Isaac Weaver In UFL Free Agency

The Houston Roughnecks have made another move to strengthen their offensive line for 2024, signing Isaac Weaver in UFL free agency yesterday.

If his name sounds familiar, that’s because it is. Weaver had originally signed with the Birmingham Stallions a few months ago, but ended up going unprotected throughout the dispersal draft process.

Since becoming available, Weaver has now been picked up by the Houston Roughnecks. Isaac had a solid career at Old Dominion University, having started for four years at the school as their center.

Weaver earned Conference USA Honorable Mentions in three of his four seasons at ODU, and was a key piece to their offense which saw quite a bit of success across that span.

Coming out of college, Isaac signed with the Los Angeles Chargers. He spent the 2023 NFL preseason with the team, and was active for two of three games. Weaver was ultimately released during NFL cutdowns, which led to him signing with the Stallions.

Final Thoughts

Now, Isaac Weaver will look to kick start his professional career in the UFL. The Houston Roughnecks made a corresponding move, cutting OT Isaiah Battle – who was originally picked up in the dispersal draft from the New Jersey Generals.

With 78 players currently on the roster that we know of, the Roughnecks will have to cut down to 75 or less by tomorrow’s deadline.
