FOX/USFL Execs Met with Dany Garcia & The Rock During Recent DC Trip

Last week we reported that XFL co-owner Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and co-owner/chairwoman Dany Garcia were in DC. During their trip they were pictured meeting with Senators reportedly in talks about the XFL, and military recruitment.

Many fans on both the USFL and XFL side have been waiting for news about the merger. So, this came way out of the blue for many.

In an interesting twist, it looks as if Dany Garcia and The Rock also met with a few USFL/FOX executives on this trip.

Earlier today Garcia shared an image from the trip showing her and The Rock in DC with Erick Shanks (FOX Sports CEO), Russ Brandon (XFL President) and Gerry Cardinale (RedBird Capital).

If there was any thought that the merger talks had stalled, this seems to put those rumors to bed.

Although many had expected an announcement to be made official by now, it’s not out of the ordinary for these types of business transactions to take time. We still think there’s a good chance that things are made official before the end of the year. Considering that most of the top brass from both USFL and XFL were spotted together, it feels like things are closer than ever.

In regards to the military talks, we’re hoping to gather some more information on what the potential recruitment efforts could entail, including a potential military partnership with the merged league.

For now, we wait. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you posted as more information surfaces from the pending merger between the USFL and XFL.
