Brandon Aubrey is, at this point, the best kicker in the NFL. The former Birmingham Stallions product has dominated in his first NFL season, setting record after record.
During the Dallas Cowboys’ win against the Philadelphia Eagles, Aubrey was spectacular. He was 4-4 on the night, hitting from 60 yards out, and then 59 – which is something no other kicker has done before in the NFL in one game.
Currently, Brandon Aubrey is 30-30 this season on field goal attempts. This has absolutely shattered the previous record to start an NFL career (18). He’s been one of the greatest hidden gems an NFL team has found over the past year – and without the USFL, this would not have been possible.

At this point, everyone has heard of Aubrey’s backstory in soccer. He was a standout player at Notre Dame, and then went to the MLS playing with a couple of different teams.
Brandon then decided to make the switch to football, training with NFL talent to get to where he wanted to be. Then, the USFL gave him an opportunity to play, and Aubrey didn’t disappoint. He ended up winning All-USFL honors in 2022, and helped Birmingham win back-to-back Championships.
The Dallas Cowboys took notice. John Fassel, special teams coordinator for Dallas, took an under-the-radar trip to Birmingham this year to watch Aubrey kick. He was impressed, and ultimately decided to bring Brandon to Dallas after the USFL season concluded. Interestingly enough, John’s father – Jim – was the New Orleans Breakers offensive coordinator back in 1984.
Aubrey won the job in training camp, and the rest is history. Now, the former USFL star is setting records in the NFL week in and week out.
