Former DC Defenders QB Cardale Jones Reportedly Working Out For the Raiders

Edmonton Elks Sign Former DC Defenders QB Cardale Jones

Near the end of 2021 former DC Defenders quarterback Cardale Jones told TMZ that he was far from retired. During this interview he also said that he’s working out and staying in shape, ready for any role in either the NFL or XFL.

Well, it looks like the hard work has paid off. We’ve just now learned that Cardale Jones is heading up-north to join the Edmonton Elks of the CFL.

Jones was originally a fourth-round selection (139th overall) by the Buffalo Bills in the 2016 NFL Draft. As a member of the Bills, Jones played in the final game of the 2016 season, replacing EJ Manuel and going 6-for-11 for 96 yards and one interception in his only appearance in the NFL.

During the shortened XFL season, Cardale Jones threw for 674 yards, secured 4 touchdowns and threw away 7 interceptions.

The XFL is currently in the beginning stages of scouting for 2023, but just announced the return of the Summer Showcase. To register for the event, you can’t be signed to another football organization so this could mean we don’t see that Cardale return next year.

There’s still a lot of time between now and when the XFL will hold their draft, so anything is still possible.
