The new XFL ownership group is rapidly ramping up towards their 2023 return. Earlier this month XFL leadership met to strategize around the new USFL. Shortly after all execs and coaches met in Arlington, TX to discuss the upcoming season and ruleset.
It wasn’t long after that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson took to social media to announce that Texas would serve as the leagues HQ next year.
We’ve recently reported on where the XFL may play in 2023, but it seems that Dallas is a lock. The meetings were held at the former home of the Dallas Renegades, Choctaw Stadium. Add in the fact that Bob Stoops is returning as a head coach, it seems pretty clear that well see the Renegades return.
In the leadup to the season it’s been reported that the new XFL ownership group may be working on a television show to supplement the season. Today, we may have our first glance out how it may look.
XFL co-owner Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson took to Instagram to share a short teaser video for the XFL, which includes many clips from their meetings in Arlington.
The post also boasts of the caliber of coaches they’ll have joining in the new year. He goes on to list the cumulative accomplishments of all the guys coming in to take the reins.
Needless to say, the XFL seems to be in good hands. If anyone knows about the struggles of a fledgling football player, it’s Johnson. He headed to the CFL after not making the cut in the NFL. After not securing a spot in Canada he ended up following in his fathers footsteps to become a professional wrestler.
Now, with the XFL as an umbrella, he’s hoping to create the opportunities he was unable to find when he was trying to play football.
The league is working towards a February 18th, 2023 return and there’s still a lot to learn. We know all eight of the head coaches, but we’re still waiting on official word on team names and cities. It’s been rumored that the XFL will be working very close with ESPN, even as far as Disney possibly making a significant investment in the league. That being said, we’ll need to wait for more information to come down on that front before we can confirm.
