The Detroit Lions are looking to the UFL once again. DC Defenders DB Ekow Boye-Doe has signed with Detroit, following a one-year stint with the Defenders.
Ekow was an offseason addition to Blake Williams’ defense. He ended up starting in one game, seeing quality time as a rotational corner. Boye-Doe played 142 snaps, totaling 8 tackles and three pass breakups.
When it comes to efficiency, Boye-Doe was on top of it. He allowed just five receptions on 11 targets, boasting a strong 74.4 coverage grade via PFF. Ekow was part of a DC team that made it to the UFL Championship this year.
Ekow signed into the NFL in 2023 as an UDFA with the Chiefs. He ended up winning the Super Bowl with the team that year as a reserve player who appeared in six games.
Boye-Doe is a versatile athlete, and one who has some legitimate talent. Ekow ran a 4.38 40 yard dash, which put him on the map – one that he was already on after starting in 35 games for the Kansas State Wildcats collegiately.
Now, he lands in Detroit – joining Nick Whiteside and Ryan Cooper in the secondary as former UFL athletes. This signing is just another testament to what the UFL platform stands for: giving athletes another chance to chase their dreams.
