The Houston Roughnecks signed Michael Bandy late in the season, as he only played the final two games with the team. During that stretch, he recorded five receptions for 35 yards. Houston made the XFL postseason, but lost to the Arlington Renegades in the South Division Championship.
For Bandy, the NFL is nothing new. After an excellent college career at San Diego, Michael Bandy had a two year stint with the Los Angeles Chargers. In fact, he recorded ten receptions for 89 yards for the team in 2022, but was ultimately released.
After a successful tenure in the XFL, Bandy now has an opportunity to further pursue his NFL dreams with the Denver Broncos.
The Houston Roughnecks have seen multiple players sign with NFL teams. OL Jack Snyder and DB Andrew Whitaker just signed with their respective teams (Minnesota & Seattle).
It’s encouraging to see the XFL continuing to keep the dreams alive for these athletes. Without the national platform they provided to their players, who knows if this would have transpired for Michael Bandy.
