DC Defenders Sign WR Mike Harley Jr., Beyer To IR

The DC Defenders have placed TE Shaun Beyer on IR with an undisclosed injury, and in turn signed WR Mike Harley Jr. to the active roster.

Mike Harley Jr. played his college career at Miami, where he finished with 182 receptions for 2,158 yards and 15 touchdowns. Harley is considered an icon on and off the field in South Florida, where he grew up and continued to be an example throughout his time at Miami.

Following his decorated college career, he entered the 2022 NFL Draft and ultimately went undrafted. Harley later signed with Cleveland’s practice squad, where he remained until this past summer when he was released.

Mike Harley Jr. faces an uphill battle to make this roster. With just five days until the first round of UFL cuts from 75 to 57 players, the speedster must make a quick impact on DC personnel…

TE Shaun Beyer To Injured Reserve

The unfortunate news of Shaun Beyer to the IR is another example of the rare downsides that come with the grind of training camp. Beyer’s injury was a precursor to the recent signing of TE Kaden Smith to DC, keeping four on the current roster.

Beyer is from Iowa University, where they breed tight ends, so hopefully he can make a quick recovery and return to DC in the near future.

The DC Defenders also released DL Fadol Brown, who spent the 2023 XFL season with the team. In six games, he posted 19 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
