Luis Perez Re-Signs With Dallas Renegades UFL - St. Louis Battlehawks

Dallas Renegades Re-Sign “Spring King” QB Luis Perez

Folks, he is officially back. The Dallas Renegades have re-signed QB Luis Perez, aka “The Spring King”, sources confirm to Pro Football Newsroom.

This is big news for DFW fans, who have watched Luis play with the Renegades the last three seasons – including a late Championship run and victory in 2023.

Spring Football Career

When it comes to spring football, Luis Perez has been everywhere. He’s got experience in the AAF, XFL, TSL, USFL, and UFL. No matter the league, Perez has performed at a high level – but has continued to get better from year to year.

After a 9-1 campaign with the USFL’s New Jersey Generals in 2022, Luis made his way to the XFL. A midseason trade from Vegas to Arlington was the catalyst for the Renegades’ Championship run, where Luis was named MVP of that matchup.

Luis opted to return to the Renegades in 2024, and led the UFL in almost every passing category. It wasn’t the prettiest season for Arlington, as they started the year 0-6, but Perez was one of the UFL’s top passers in the inaugural season of the league. Luis threw for 2,314 yards and 18 touchdowns, to just four interceptions.

This earned him an NFL opportunity with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he spent the 2024 preseason.

Luis Perez once again was the Renegades starting QB in 2025, and put up numbers. He completed an impressive 71.6% of his pass attempts – a career high for Luis. He threw for 2,298 yards, tossing nine touchdowns to five interceptions. Perez is a perfect fit for Chuck Long’s offense, getting the ball out of his hands quickly the majority of the time.

One of Perez’ shortcomings is his lack of mobility compared to other quarterbacks in this league. As a pocket passer, he’s one of the best in the business. Perez can read and dial up defenses faster than anyone. Coaches rave about his high IQ in this space. That said, the Dallas Renegades need to ensure that their offensive line is ready to protect for Perez, who was sacked 23 times in 2025 – the most of any QB.

Final Thoughts

With Holton Ahlers announcing his retirement, Luis Perez is the clear QB1 in Dallas, and the only signal caller on their roster currently. There aren’t many passers, if any, who have accomplished as much as Luis has throughout the course of his spring football career. For General Manager Rick Mueller and Head Coach Bob Stoops, bringing Perez back was a no-brainer.

Recently, the Dallas Renegades have been re-signing players for 2026. These transactions include RB Dae Dae Hunter, WR JaVonta Payton, TE Seth Green, and LB Donald Payne. They also brought in free agent LB Brandon Smith, a former 4th round NFL Draft Pick.
