Columbus Aviators Sign Adam Plant Jr. & Antwane Wells

Ted Ginn Jr. and the Columbus Aviators have been making all sorts of moves the last few days – even after their tremendous fan rally on Saturday. The Aviators have signed Adam Plant Jr. and Antwane Wells, while losing a couple of pieces.

With the loss of Raheem Blackshear, the Columbus Aviators have opted to sign a wide receiver in his place. Antwane “Juice” Wells joins Columbus as a candidate who has the potential to be electrifying in this league.

Antwane began his college career at James Madison University, racking up 1,250 yards and 15 touchdowns in just one season alone. He then transferred to South Carolina, totaling over 900 yards and a few scores to his name from 2022-2023 – but, he spent most of the ‘23 season sidelined with a foot injury.

In 2024, Antwane wrapped up his days at Ole Miss. He had 553 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 19.7 yards per reception. This led to an NFL stint with the New York Giants this past preseason. Antwane is a YAC monster, who brings dynamic playmaking abilities to this Aviators skills group.

Adam Plant Jr. is an under-the-radar name to join the UFL as an edge rusher. He might not have the profile of some others in this league, but Plant has the potential to be a strong rotational piece for Columbus. He played his college ball primarily at UNLV, totaling eight sacks and 13.5 TFL’s during his senior season, earning All-Mountain West honors.

Plant had a mini-camp stint with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023, and has spent the last two years playing in the Indoor Football League with the Pirates.

While not officially announced by the UFL, Clayton Tune is heading back to the NFL. Ted Ginn Jr. mentioned at the fan rally this week that Tune will be signing a futures deal. Clayton was projected by some to be QB1 in Columbus. Now, they’ll need to sign another signal caller ahead of training camp. Rocky Lombardi, Nolan Henderson, Andrew Peasley, and Dresser Winn are a few names to keep an eye on.

TE Gee Scott is an unfortunate loss for Columbus. The former Ohio State Buckeye was primed to be a key piece for Ginn and Haley’s offense.
