Cincinnati Bengals Signing XFL Renegades QB Drew Plitt To PS

The Arlington Renegades have sent another player to the NFL. QB Drew Plitt is signing with the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad, pending a physical. As of today, he has been released from the Renegades according to the XFL’s transactions page.

Drew Plitt spent the 2023 XFL season with the Arlington Renegades. He started the first couple of weeks, and saw some action throughout the rest of the year. He ultimately won the XFL Championship as the backup to Luis Perez.

With Arlington, Plitt threw for 668 yards and three touchdowns in four games. He struggled with turnovers, though, tossing five interceptions.

Now, Drew is making his way back to Cincinnati. Drew has been with the Bengals previously, spending the 2022 preseason with the organization.

Considering the season-ending injury to Joe Burrow, it makes sense to see the Bengals bring in a familiar face. Interestingly enough, the team has been very active in signing XFL QBs since the season concluded. Former Brahmas signal caller Reid Sinnett spent time in Cincinnati during training camp/preseason.

In addition, the team signed St. Louis Battlehawks QB AJ McCarron several weeks back, to the practice squad. AJ was an outstanding playmaker for St. Louis in the XFL – and of course – has been in Cincinnati before.

Final Thoughts

The XFL continues to prove why spring football matters. Since their inaugural season concluded, the league has now sent 68 players to the NFL.
