The XFL has sent another athlete to the NFL. San Antonio Brahmas QB Reid Sinnett is officially signing with the Cincinnati Bengals, in the wake of Joe Burrow’s injury.
The #Bengals plan to sign FA QB Reid Sinnett after today’s workout, source said. The former San Antonio Brahmas starter in the XFL, he most recently played for the #Dolphins in the NFL. He’ll help Cincy manage practice with the injury to Joe Burrow. It’ll be official tomorrow.
After Burrow went down, the Bengals looked to the XFL to find a potential replacement. They worked out Reid Sinnett, alongside Arlington Renegades QB Drew Plitt – who had experience playing for Cincinnati in the past. Ultimately, the team decided to sign Sinnett.
The XFL was a rather unique experience for Reid. He was the backup to Jack Coan for the first few weeks, unable to see much playing time.
However, he finally got the start in week five, and was playing well. He had thrown for 97 yards and a touchdown, putting the team in a position to score. Unfortunately, he broke his foot during this game, which sidelined him for the rest of the year.
With Reid Sinnett now back and healthy, he has another opportunity to pursue his NFL dream. The big league is nothing new for him, having stints with both the Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles through the last few years.
This is the 35th XFL to NFL signing of the offseason, which is excellent to see. The league has had well over 100 workouts/camp invites since its season ended, providing plenty of athletes with golden opportunities the last few months.
While Joe Burrow recovers from his calf strain, Reid Sinnett will now have a chance to show the Bengals organization what he’s truly made of.
