The Philadelphia Stars have officially placed the entire United States Football League on notice.
On Wednesday Case Cookus teased a return to the Philadelphia Stars for the 2023 season, and on Thursday the Philadelphia Stars and Cookus confirmed on Twitter that Cookus will be playing for the Stars again in 2023.
Cookus had been relatively quiet on social media following the Stars quarterback’s breakout 2022 USFL season that nearly led to a USFL Championship victory had Cookus been able to stay healthy in the final minutes of the Birmingham Stallions’ victory over Philadelphia in Canton, Ohio in July of last year.
Following the USFL season, Cookus was forced to rehab his leg injury while also taking time to enjoy life as a newly married man. In November, Cookus was signed to his hometown Los Angeles Rams’ practice squad where he ran the scout team for the later half of the season.
WIth the Rams bringing back several quarterbacks for the 2023 season, Cookus’ practice squad contract expired after he was not signed to a futures contract in January.
After a nearly two month absence from tweeting, Cookus sent out a message for fans following Philadelphia’s loss in the Super Bowl.
Tough year for Philly teams in championship games…

The Stars will host four home games at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan and one home game at Tom Benson Stadium in Canton, Ohio during their regular season, which kicks off in mid-April.
Any doubt of Cookus’ 2023 plans outside of returning to the Stars were put to bed on Thursday afternoon when the Stars tweeted out a picture of Cookus’ earlier tweet with the caption “HE’S BACK”.
