Carolina Panthers Sign Showboats WR Daewood Davis

Carolina Panthers Sign Showboats WR Daewood Davis

It was only a matter of time: WR Daewood Davis is back in the NFL. The Memphis Showboats star – one of the lone bright spots on that team this year, is signing with the Carolina Panthers.

It was reported a couple of weeks ago by Ian Rapoport that Davis would sign with Carolina. Now that NFL teams can officially bring UFL athletes in, Daewood is making his trip to the Panthers official.

After a scary injury in the Miami Dolphins mini-camp last preseason, Daewood wondered if he’d ever play football again. The Memphis Showboats gave him an opportunity, and he immediately impressed the staff. Head Coach John DeFilippo, prior to the season, said he felt “lucky” that Davis was available, and wasn’t on an NFL roster.

Daewood earned All-UFL honors this season, as the lone Memphis Showboats player to do so. He was electric, posting 446 receiving yards and five touchdowns, proving to be a deep threat all season long.

While there was plenty of turnover at the quarterback position this year, Daewood Davis stayed consistent. He was one of the fastest players in the UFL, reaching speeds of 21.5mph this season.

With Davis’ speed, and route running abilities, he’s the type of playmaker who absolutely should have a shot at making this Carolina Panthers 53 man roster.

Had it not been for the national platform that the UFL provided him with, who knows if this NFL opportunity would have been possible. You can stay up to date on all UFL to NFL signings with our official tracker.
