To no one’s surprise, Louisville Kings RB Ian Wheeler is headed to the NFL. The Buffalo Bills announced today that they signed Wheeler to the roster, just a few days after Ian won a UFL Championship with the Kings.
Wheeler was an offseason addition to the UFL, and turned out to be one of the top signings by any team across the league. Early in the year, Louisville’s offensive line struggled to find much chemistry – which resulted in little production out of Wheeler. He had just four yards through three games.
Wheeler was inactive in week four, but in week five, everything changed. He exploded for four rushing touchdowns against the Dallas Renegades, and that set off what turned out to be an outstanding campaign for the young back.
Ian rushed for 541 yards and eight touchdowns (including the playoffs), sparking both wins in the postseason with scoring runs of 40 and 50 yards. Wheeler also added 37 receiving yards and 427 kick return yards to his total tally.
In 2025, Ian Wheeler spent time with the Chicago Bears, but an injury stifled what was a promising start for him to his NFL career. Now, he’ll get another look – this time in Buffalo. The Bills have signed UFL running backs in the past, bringing in Battlehawks Jarveon Howard last fall.
