To no one’s surprise, D.J. Miller Jr. is officially back in the NFL. The Columbus Aviators defensive back signed with the Buffalo Bills on Friday, earning another opportunity at the highest level in football.
Miller has been in the spring football space for a couple of years. He burst onto the scene in 2025 with the Michigan Panthers, recording two interceptions in a week two matchup against the Birmingham Stallons. He remained consistent throughout the year, which earned him a look in the NFL with the Detroit Lions.
This season, Miller was on a mission. He was one of the top corners in the UFL, charging a Columbus Aviators defense that was stout on the backend. D.J. boasted a strong 84.2 Defensive Grade via PFF, allowing just 52.9% completion percentage when the ball was thrown his way.
Miller ultimately posted 29 tackles, three interceptions, and six pass breakups on the year. He had several incredible moments, including the game-sealing pick six in week nine to take down the Birmingham Stallions. Miller earned All-UFL honors during the 2026 season.
D.J. Miller Jr. is the perfect prototype for why spring football works. The former Kent State star had an UDFA opportunity with the Chiefs in 2024, before taking to the UFL in 2025. He impressed with the Detroit Lions this past preseason, but because he was a late signee, he couldn’t crack the rotation.
Now, he gets another chance to prove himself, this time in Buffalo. The Bills have looked to spring football quite a few times over the years, and now find a gem of a young corner who still has plenty to prove.
