Breaking: Pep Hamilton to become the Head Coach/GM of the XFL’s DC franchise

Former Michigan assistant coach Pep Hamilton is expected to be taking a job in the XFL, according to a report from Bruce Feldman of The Athletic.

On Thursday, Feldman reported that Hamilton, who left Michigan earlier this week to pursue other opportunities, is expected to become the head coach and general manager of Washington’s XFL team. No details about a potential contract were mentioned.

Feldman reported that Hamilton has been preparing for this position for at least a week, assembling a staff for his new role.

Hamilton, 44, has not been a head coach at any level, spending most of his career as a quarterbacks coach, wide receivers coach and offensive coordinator. At Michigan, he held the three titles, serving as the passing game coordinator, quarterbacks coach and assistant head coach.

Hamilton has had multiple stops in his coaching career, both in college and in the NFL. Before landing at Michigan in 2017, he was the assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach with the Cleveland Browns. Prior to that, Hamilton was the offensive coordinator with the Indianapolis Colts from 2013-15.
