It was a very busy weekend for the San Antonio Brahmas. They brought in WR Kawaan Baker and DT Jaylen Twyman, while making a few notable cuts to clear up space on the roster.

The Brahmas already boast a very talented wideout room, but why not add another piece who could prove themselves in camp? Kawaan Baker is a former NFL draft pick who now makes his way to San Antonio – looking to get his pro career back on track with this Brahmas franchise.
Baker played all of his college football at South Alabama, where he racked up 1,829 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns across four seasons. Kawaan was a full-time starter for his final three years of action there.

This led to the Saints picking up Kawaan in the 2021 NFL Draft, in the seventh round. Baker never got to truly see success in New Orleans, though, with action in just two games on the gridiron. He was let go in 2023, and landed in New England – where he spent the past preseason up until his release in August.

The San Antonio Brahmas have brought back Jaylen Twyman, a defensive tackle who was a midseason addition to the team a year ago.
Twyman had a unique journey in the UFL this year. He began the season with the Birmingham Stallions, but was cut just a couple weeks in. Jaylen played in week two with Birmingham, seeing the field for 26 snaps.
After his release from the Stallions, it was the San Antonio Brahmas who came calling. He joined San Antonio for the final few games – and made an impact, with two sacks. Between his time as a Stallion and a Brahma, Jaylen had six tackles and 2.5 sacks.
This resulted in an NFL stint with the New York Jets. Twyman notched a tackle in a preseason game with the Jets, but was let go at the end of August. Now, he returns to San Antonio as the Brahmas continue to retool this UFL Training Camp roster.

The Brahmas made a few releases over the weekend, which included a couple of surprises. Offensively, RB La’Damian Webb and TE Matt Seybert were let go. Webb is a prospect that many were excited about in San Antonio’s backfield, having contributed to some legitimate offensive success at South Alabama.
Briason Mays was formerly a Renegades draft pick, but he was picked up by the Brahmas instead. With the depth they have at O-Line, it isn’t too shocking to see Mays released.
Defensively, both Bryan Mone and Taron Vincent getting the axe is a bit of a surprise. Vincent was a key piece last year prior to injury. Meanwhile, Bryan was a phenomenal pickup with NFL experience – but now will seek other opportunities elsewhere.
Clearly, GM Marc Lillibridge and HC Wade Phillips have a plan. The players they cut don’t exactly fit what they’re looking for, and now they’ll continue to focus on getting the guys ready with just a couple of weeks left in camp.
