Brahmas Place Deestroying & Alex Mollette On Injured Reserve

Some unfortunate news broke for the San Antonio Brahmas tonight. Kicker Donald De La Haye Jr. (Deestroying), and Center Alex Mollette were both placed on the injured reserve list after suffering injuries during their game against the Memphis Showboats.

C Alex Mollette

It’s a bummer to see Mollette go down for San Antonio. He was their starting center this year, who provided the team with excellent play up front.

Alex was a key piece to Wade Phillips’ Houston Roughnecks in 2023, and joined the Brahmas throughout the dispersal draft process. He was All-XFL with Houston a year ago.

In week one, Mollette posted a 74.6 offensive grade according to PFF. Against the Showboats, Mollette only played in ten snaps before going down with what appeared to be a lower leg injury. Hopefully, he heals up sooner than later, and can still return at some point this UFL season.

Mollette provided fans with one of the most exciting moments of the entire year so far, catching a pass for a touchdown from punter Brad Wing.

At the moment, Sam Tecklenburg will likely take over as the starting center for San Antonio.

K Deestroying

For now, “Project NFL” is on hold. Donald De La Haye Jr., aka “Deestroying”, has been placed on IR. This likely stems from the tackle he made on Trey Williams in their game against the Showboats. Donald can be seen coming up gingerly, as his tackling form isn’t up to par with professional standards. This isn’t surprising, considering he hasn’t played true football for several years.

For those who wanted to see him attempt a field goal, we might not see that happen depending on how severe the injury is. The Brahmas have not kicked at all yet, electing to go for it on fourth down situations. While Deestroying technically attempted a field goal in week one, his 57 yarder did not count as DC had called a timeout. That kick was just wide to the right.

On kickoffs, Donald was very impressive. After week one he led the league averaging 74.2 yards per attempt, with a hangtime of 4.2 seconds per kick. Two of his kickoffs traveled 79 yards – which is the ideal spot in the UFL.

Hopefully, this shoulder injury doesn’t knock him out for the season. In the meantime, one will have to monitor this kicking situation very closely. It’s safe to assume that Matt Ammendola will be brought back, who was with the team in training camp, but there’s no guarantee that he returns. Time will tell.

T.J. Vasher Released

The San Antonio Brahmas also released WR T.J. Vasher. While Vasher was a starter in the XFL last year, he never found a role in A.J. Smith’s offense this season. He played just two snaps through the last two games, and now will look to find a new home.

For the Brahmas, their focus is on the upcoming home matchup against the St. Louis Battlehawks. That game kicks off this Sunday, at 3pm ET.
