Birmingham Stallions Return Chris Blewitt, Cut Ramiz Ahmed

The Birmingham Stallions have been swapping punters and kickers all year long. Chris Blewitt went down with injury several weeks ago, which led to Ramiz Ahmed filling in for the time being. Now that Blewitt is healthy, though, he is back in action – and Ahmed has been let go.

Chris Blewitt was picked up as Brandon Aubrey’s replacement this offseason. With Aubrey seeing so much NFL success, the Stallions needed someone to fill in. Blewitt had spent the 2023 USFL season with the Pittsburgh Maulers, and was selected in the USFL Dispersal Draft.

In the UFL this year, Blewitt played for the first three weeks. He was 8/9 on field goal attempts, with a long of 46 yards. His lone miss was from 52 yards out.

Ramiz Ahmed

The Stallions had originally signed Ramiz Ahmed to be on field goals for a week or so. However, Blewitt’s recovery time took longer than expected, as he had to be placed on the injured reserve list.

Ramiz, formerly with the Pittsburgh Maulers in 2022, was serviceable in Birmingham this year. He actually hit a game winner in his first game back, to lift the Stallions past the DC Defenders.

Ahmed wraps up his UFL season with 10 field goals made, on 13 attempts. His three misses were from 40+ yards out.

When it comes to kickoffs, Ahmed and Blewitt were nearly identical. Blewitt averaged 69.2 yards per kickoff, while Ahmed was just behind him at 68.9 yards.

The Birmingham Stallions are coming off their first loss in 378 days – and will look to bounce back this weekend against the Michigan Panthers.
