Birmingham Stallions Re-Sign Colby Wadman, Cut Drue Chrisman

The Birmingham Stallions are swapping punters yet again. Colby Wadman appears to be healthy, and has now been brought back on the roster. Drue Chrisman, who was filling in while Colby was injured, is now no longer with the team.

Birmingham’s special teams have seen a lot of turnover this year. Originally, Chris Blewitt went down with an injury, which led to the team signing Ramiz Ahmed who has since taken over kicking duties.

Then, Colby Wadman got hurt the next week against DC, and despite finishing out that game, was released after week five as Drue Chrisman took control of punting duties.

Chrisman made his UFL debut in week five, as the Stallions defeated the Houston Roughnecks. Drue played in four games this year, and performed well across the board. Chrisman posted an average of 46.8 yards per punt, with a long of 58 yards.

One issue for Drue came in week seven, against St. Louis. In a crucial moment, his punt was blocked – which wasn’t entirely his fault, but it was something that clearly frustrated Head Coach Skip Holtz. In week eight, during another important punt, the broadcast showed Holtz getting after Drue to make sure a blocked punt wouldn’t happen again.

Now, Wadman makes his return. Colby has consistently been one of the top punters in the spring football scene, earning All-USFL honors in 2023. Having him back in the lineup is great news for Birmingham – but Drue Chrisman and his UFL content will certainly be missed.

Final Thoughts

The Birmingham Stallions are rolling this season. They’re 8-0, and despite some of the injuries, continue to find ways to win. The team is hopeful to get Chris Blewitt back soon, so hopefully the trusty kicker can make his way onto the active roster prior to the postseason.

This week, the Stallions will hit the road to take on the San Antonio Brahmas, hoping to keep their undefeated streak alive.
