Birmingham Stallions Sign WR Slade Bolden In UFL Free Agency

Birmingham Stallions Make Final Cuts In UFL Training Camp

The Birmingham Stallions have announced their cuts down to 50 today, ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. No UFL cutdown day is complete without a few surprise releases, and the Stallions continued that trend.

Offensive Cuts

WR Slade Bolden
WR Myron Mitchell
OG O’Shea Dugas
C Cohl Cabral

Of these four, Myron, Cohl, and O’Shea were all with the team in 2023. Most notably, Cohl and O’Shea were Birmingham’s starting Center and OG, who started 10 and 9 games respectively last year. The other huge surprise to Stallion and Alabama fans was the release of Slade Bolden, but with the Stallions carrying so much talent at the position, tough decisions had to be made, as is the case with Myron Mitchell.

Defensive Cuts

DE Anree Saint-Amour
EDGE Chauncey Rivers
LB Maalik Hall
S Bubba Bolden

The Stallions didn’t cut any returning players on their final way to 50, however they did cut dispersal draft pick Anree Saint-Amour. Saint-Amour was a force to be reckoned with on the now defunct New Orleans Breakers. Unfortunately for Anree, the Stallions upgraded at all of these positions over the offseason, bringing in a surplus of NFL talent. Most notably, they just signed Taco Charlton. Simply put, there is not room for everyone on this roster, even if they deserve a spot.

Chauncey Rivers is another player who many expected to make the final roster. Birmingham made a trade for Chauncey earlier in training camp. Maalik Hall and Bubba Bolden both seemed to be in the bubble on the outside looking in, as Hall was just added this week.

Final Thoughts

With this cut down, the Stallions currently sit at 50 players exactly. Meaning, we could potentially not see another transaction for the team until the season begins.

The Birmingham Stallions have yet to make an announcement on QB1, similar to how they handled the battle between Smith and McGough last year, but no matter the direction they decide to go, this Stallions team looks like a complete overhaul from the years before.
