Birmingham Stallions Sign Isaiah Coe & Michael Hiers

Battlehawks Sign Jake Sutherland, Bradley Ashmore, Isaiah Coe

The St. Louis Battlehawks have been making moves this week. Aside from signing former NFL draft pick Andy Isabella, they’ve brought in two free agents in DT Isaiah Coe and OL Bradley Ashmore – while also re-signing TE Jake Sutherland.

TE Jake Sutherland

Jake Sutherland has been a staple of this Battlehawks team for the last two seasons. Whether you need him to get down and dirty and block – or break free for a diving touchdown – he’s ready to do whatever it takes to win a football game.

Sutherland has been in the spring football scene since it began. He played with the AAF’s Atlanta Legends in 2019, before spending time with the XFL’s New York Guardians in 2020.

Jake joined the St. Louis Battlehawks for their return in the XFL, recording 82 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 2023. Sutherland saw similar production this past UFL season, with 97 yards and two touchdowns to his name. He was also active in the conversion game, scoring multiple PAT’s for St. Louis this year. Jake posted a strong 73.6 Offensive Grade in 2024, via PFF. Anthony Becht is big on his tight ends, obviously, and clearly likes what he has in Jake Sutherland – who’s been very consistent for this Battlehawks organization.

OL Bradley Ashmore

Bradley Ashmore was a college draft pick for the St. Louis Battlehawks, and now officially joins them for the 2025 UFL season. Ashmore played his college football at Vanderbilt, where he quickly became a starter in his second year with the team – starting all 12 games at right tackle.

As a junior, Bradley played in nine games before having his season come to an end due to injury. He came back determined and on a mission for his senior campaign; once again starting in 12 games at the right tackle position. Ashmore earned a run block grade of 77.4 via PFF, sixth best among SEC offensive linemen in 2023.

This led to an NFL mini-camp invite for Bradley, with the Miami Dolphins. After spending the last few months as a free agent, Ashmore now looks to the UFL to kickstart his professional career.

DT Isaiah Coe

In the UFL College Draft, the Battlehawks did select a few players who were not on NFL rosters. Isaiah Coe, like Bradley Ashmore, was one of them – and now joins St. Louis for the upcoming UFL campaign.

Coe began his college career at Iowa Western CC, posting 37 tackles and 6.5 sacks during the 2019 season. In 2021, Coe made the move to Oklahoma. Across three seasons, he totaled 55 tackles and three sacks. In his final year with the Sooners, Isaiah started in seven of 13 games played; with 26 tackles, 2.5 TFL’s, and three quarterback hurries.

Isaiah Coe was invited to mini-camp with the Indianapolis Colts, but remained unsigned. Now, he’ll be getting his professional career off the ground in the UFL, with the Battlehawks.

Final Thoughts

General Manager Dave Boller and his crew did an outstanding job with their draft approach. They selected a few players who they could, more than likely, sign for 2025. Additionally, they picked a few others who might not be available right away – but could certainly end up falling into their hands down the road. Isaiah Coe and Bradley Ashmore are two young prospects who should have a legitimate shot at making this roster in 2025.

What are your thoughts on Coe and Ashmore joining St. Louis as draft picks? Will Jake Sutherland eclipse 100 receiving yards in a season this year? Let us know down in the comments below, or join the conversation on Discord!
