Battlehawks Sign Elijah Lee, Lose Drew Lewis & Keylon Kennedy

The St. Louis Battlehawks have made a couple of roster moves, due to the latest injuries to their squad. LB Elijah Lee has signed with the team, with Drew Lewis and Keylon Kennedy both headed to the injured reserve list.

Elijah Lee is an NFL veteran, who will bring plenty of professional experience to the table for St. Louis in the playoffs. Lee has played in 74 NFL games across his career, totaling 107 tackles and a sack across that span – making six starts as well.

At Kansas State, Elijah was a playmaker. He played at the school for three years, totaling 209 tackles, five interceptions, and 11 sacks. This led to him being drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Since then, Lee has had stints with the 49ers, Lions, Browns, Chiefs, and Bears. He’s been out of the NFL for the past year or so, and now lands in the UFL with one (or two) weeks left to play.

Drew Lewis & Keylon Kennedy To IR

The St. Louis Battlehawks have lost both Drew Lewis and Keylon Kennedy to the injured reserve list. Lewis signed with St. Louis midway through the year, filling in for an injured Callahan O’Reilly. Lewis had been with the Battlehawks during training camp.

Drew ended up playing just nine defensive snaps for the team in 2024, but made an impact on special teams with 37 snaps and two tackles in three games.

Keylon Kennedy was an XFL Dispersal Draft selection, and wasn’t activated by St. Louis until the second half of the season. Kennedy played in four games, with an impressive 92.2 Defensive Grade via PFF. He posted two tackles defensively, and also had a couple of tackles on special teams.

Final Thoughts

Similar to the Michigan Panthers who just lost a couple of pieces on their end, the St. Louis Battlehawks are dealing with injuries at an inopportune time. The postseason is just a few days away. The Battlehawks are hoping to be at full strength as they face off against the San Antonio Brahmas for a third time this year, and will need players to step up given these latest transactions.
