Just like that, another UFL player is headed to Atlanta. The Falcons have signed Columbus Aviators WR Antwane Wells, sources confirm to Pro Football Newsroom.
Wells, who is known by his nickname “Juice”, was an exciting addition to the UFL this year. In Columbus, he was utilized in a myriad of ways, flashing his speed and playmaking abilities throughout the season.
Wells racked up 253 receiving yards and a couple of scores, alongside three carries for 25 yards. When the ball was in his hands, good things tended to happen. Antwane’s touchdown in week six was a key moment to help keep Columbus’ season alive.
As a punt returner, Antwane was tremendous. He had 151 punt return yards on 16 returns, averaging 9.4 yards per attempt.
Wells spent some time in the NFL last year with the New York Giants. This will be his second opportunity in the NFL, and his first look with the Atlanta Falcons. The former Ole Miss standout is the fifth Aviators player to sign a contract since June 15th.
Today, two of Ted Ginn Jr.’s wideouts signed NFL deals. It’s not surprising to see Ginn develop wide receivers for the next level, but it also wouldn’t have been possible without the work of WR’s coach Tito Overton.
