Atlanta Falcons Cut Former Renegades CB Josh Hawkins From Practice Squad

Leading up to the NFL season we saw a lot of former XFL players get tryouts and even get signed to multiple NFL franchises. As expected, when the teams were forced to trimp rosters down to 52, we saw a lot of those players move to the practice squad.

One of those players was former Dallas Renegades CB Josh Hawkins who had made the jump to the NFL.

Josh Hawkins, 27, was signed by Atlanta in the off-season and released during cuts, the he was re-signed to the team’s practice squad. Most recently, Hawkins served as corner back for the Dallas Renegades. During the short 5-game XFL season, Hawkins racked up 7 tackles and two interceptions.

Prior to his time in the XFL, he had a few stints in the NFL with the Packers, Panthers, and Eagles.

We’re hoping to see another team give Hawkins a shot. If not, we’d love to see him back in Dallas when the XFL returns (whenever that may be). This proves that there is a need for the XFL, for both the players and the fans.

We’ll keep you posted as more transnational news happens throughout the NFL season, and look forward to we can get back to the days of announcing XFL hires.
