Arlington Renegades Sign LB Marquel Lee In UFL Free Agency

The Arlington Renegades continue to build upon their UFL roster for 2024. The team signed LB Marquel Lee on Monday, while also signing nine former players to letters of intent.

Marquel Lee brings an NFL pedigree to the team, playing in 45 NFL games across his career with the Raiders and Bills.

Lee saw excellent production in 2018 where he racked up 68 tackles in 13 games. Since that tenure, though, he’s struggled to maintain a consistent roster spot. Most recently, Marquel was with the Buffalo Bills during the 2022 preseason.

Marquel Lee played his college football at Wake Forest. He was tremendous, recording 291 tackles and 14.5 sacks there – which led to him being picked by the Oakland Raiders in the 5th round of the 2017 NFL draft.

What derailed Lee’s career is something that is all too common in pro football: injuries. Marquel was placed on the injured reserve list in Las Vegas in 2019, which ultimately ended what was a promising stint there.

After some time as a free agent, Marquel Lee now signs with the Arlington Renegades in hopes of rejuvenating his professional career.

Final Thoughts

As it stands right now, GM Rick Mueller has put together an outstanding linebacker room in Arlington. The Renegades currently roster:

Donald Payne
Christian Sam
Storey Jackson
Colin Schooler
B.J. Bello
Vic Beasley
Willie Taylor

With 63 players on the team, the Renegades have twelve spots open for training camp. The deadline for free agency’s closure is February 14th, and coaches report on the 19th.
