Arlington Renegades Sign Draft Eligible QB Luke Lehnen

Arlington Renegades Sign Draft Eligible QB Luke Lehnen

On Thursday, the Arlington Renegades made an important addition to their QB room. Luke Lehnen has agreed to terms with Arlington for the 2025 UFL season, despite being eligible for the upcoming NFL draft.

Luke Lehnen is an absolute baller out of North Central College. He’s a Division III star, having won the Gagliardi Trophy twice throughout his career there.

Luke burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2021, throwing for 3,284 yards and 33 touchdowns. The success continued into each and every year, as Lehnen saw increased accuracy throughout the last couple of seasons. In 2023, Lehnen threw for an outstanding 48 touchdowns – to just two interceptions – some incredible statistics.

As a Cardinal, Luke Lehnen racked up 12,658 passing yards and 162 touchdowns across four seasons – with only 23 interceptions to his name. On top of that, Luke is a dual threat quarterback, rushing for 3,327 yards and 51 scores across his four year career.

What makes this signing so interesting is the fact that Luke is eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft. He’s taking a gamble on himself here, heading the UFL route in order to get some game film and pro experience.

Renegades GM Rick Mueller had this to say about the signing:

“We are excited to bring in a player like Luke and provide him an opportunity to showcase his skills…The talent he brings will capitalize on the experienced roster we have. We look forward to working with him this upcoming season.”

Lindsey Scott Jr. Moves On

This move comes on the heels of Lindsey Scott Jr., one of Arlington’s quarterbacks, calling it quits. Lindsey has decided to take a gig at Texas Tech as Assistant Quarterbacks Coach, meaning he won’t be returning to Arlington despite re-signing earlier this offseason.

It’s too bad that we never got to see Scott’s full potential realized in the UFL. He was primarily QB2 behind Luis Perez a season ago, and while he flashed some legitimate talent throughout the year, he never had the chance to fully bloom.

Now with Lindsey taking this gig, it seems that he’s moving on from playing the game of football entirely. Lindsey threw for 48 yards, while rushing for 72 yards and two touchdowns on the year.
