Arlington Renegades Sign DE Anree Saint-Amour

Arlington Renegades Sign DE Anree Saint-Amour

The Arlington Renegades have opened up the season with two losses, and their defense hasn’t looked at all like the same unit from a year ago. This has led to the organization making a move: signing former New Orleans Breakers DE Anree Saint-Amour.

Part of the reason why Arlington picked up Anree is because Tuzar Skipper has gone on the injured reserve list. Tuzar was acquired by trade from Seattle this offseason. He posted 20 tackles and six sacks with the Sea Dragons in 2023.

Now, the Renegades have gone back to the pool of former spring football athletes. Anree Saint-Amour is a tremendous pickup for this group, and is a player that surprisingly remained a free agent for this long.

Anree has played with the Breakers the past two USFL seasons. Across that span, he’s compiled 68 tackles. His 2023 campaign, in particular, was outstanding. He racked up 30 tackles, seven TFL’s, and six sacks. Saint-Amour was one of the best defensive ends in the entire USFL, and was positively graded by PFF at 75.2 for the year.

During the dispersal draft process, Saint-Amour was picked up by the Birmingham Stallions. He made it through the first round of cuts, and was positioned to make it onto the roster – until the Stallions signed Taco Charlton late in camp. This led to Anree’s release.

Final Thoughts

Across the board, statistically, the Arlington Renegades have struggled defensively. They’re the worst unit in the entire UFL, and their run defense in particular is rough, allowing 5.4 YPC from opposing rushers.

General Manager Rick Mueller has made a great move for Jay Haye’s defense, signing Anree Saint-Amour. He’s a proven professional, especially at this level, and could work his way into a starting role over the next couple of weeks.

The Arlington Renegades will kick off week three at home, hosting the DC Defenders at 1pm ET.
