Arlington Renegades Sign C Naasir Watkins In UFL Free Agency

The Arlington Renegades added another piece to their offensive line yesterday, signing Center Naasir Watkins about a week through UFL Training Camp.

Naasir brings depth to the offensive line, but doesn’t have a ton of experience at the professional level. Watkins played most of his college football at Kentucky, primarily coming off the bench for most of that tenure. He dealt with some injuries at the school, and also had a four game suspension which did not help matters much.

In his senior season in 2022, Naasir transferred to Liberty – and moved into a starting role. He started in 11 of 12 games that year. At 6’6”, 320 lbs., Watkins is a big bodied lineman who can play at multiple positions when his name is called upon.

Watkins has since been searching for an opportunity to kickstart his professional career. He signed a Letter Of Intent with the Vegas Vipers last September, but ultimately the team did not make the USFL-XFL merger.

Now, after having been available throughout the dispersal draft process, Naasir Watkins signs with the Arlington Renegades.

Final Thoughts

Something interesting to note is that the Arlington Renegades currently roster 76 players, according to our guru Nicholas Thorn. There certainly could have been a release/injury that we are currently not aware of – so this will be something to monitor moving forward.
