Arlington Renegades Cut Down Roster For 2025 Season

The Arlington Renegades have officially locked in their UFL roster for the 2025 season. On Thursday, Arlington cut down to 47 players – allowing for two offensive linemen to be picked up off of waivers. Additionally, they brought back a familiar face at running back.

Offense

Offensively, the Arlington Renegades made a couple of surprise cuts. Right off the bat, it’s strange to see Juwan Manigo let go – who was one of the UFL’s top return specialists in 2024. Manigo was like lightning in a bottle, ready to blow at any moment. His presence will be certainly be missed for Scott Spurrier and that special teams unit.

Ike Irabor is another surprise, as Arlington only rostered two RB’s following his release. It turns out that they’re bringing back De’Veon Smith – but it’s a shame that Ike was let go after performing well in camp.

Tre’shaun Harrison, Brandon Arconado, and Matt Seybert were all offseason additions. Arconado played with Arlington in 2023, while Seybert was formerly a standout with the USFL’s Pittsburgh Maulers.

The offensive line is where things get really, really interesting. Arlington cut five linemen, including three UFL draft picks. It turns out that the Renegades would pick up two O-Linemen who were cut by the Stallions. With this in mind, it feels like Arlington knew that they would be targeting offensive linemen once cuts were made. Larson, Rolland, McDowell, and Mays are all young prospects who should receive opportunities elsewhere. Additionally, Mark Evans has some NFL experience under his belt, and could contribute to another roster if injuries pile up.

Defense

Defensively, the Renegades made a couple of head scratching moves as well. In the secondary, they cut DB Delonte Hood – who was taking plenty of first-team reps throughout camp. Hood was with Arlington a year ago, and was one of the UFL’s leaders in PBU’s, with six.

Small school guys such as Marquise Lawson-Greenwood, Joey Asta, and Vincent DiLeo were also let go. Asta is, interestingly enough, eligible for the NFL draft this year.

Mekhi Garner, Vincent Gray, and Brady Breeze were all offseason pickups by the Renegades. Honestly, it’s a bit surprising to see them retain most of their starters from the secondary a year ago, without including these new signings. Garner is someone with recent NFL experience who was expected to make noise in camp.

Final Thoughts

Despite looking to make more changes this offseason, Arlington now heads into the 2025 season with 56% of their 2024 roster. It’s a relatively balanced group with some returnees, alongside new faces that should elevate the team’s performance in general.

Most importantly, Arlington is ready to run it back with Luis Perez. If they can provide him with more of a supporting cast, they should be in solid shape this season. That said, if they cannot right the ship defensively, they risk running into the same issues that they had in 2024.

Arlington will kick off their season at home on March 29th, against the San Antonio Brahmas.
