Arlington Renegades Bring Back TE Sal Cannella In UFL FA

With UFL training camp getting underway, the Arlington Renegades have seemingly made another major addition: TE Sal Cannella is back in the building with the team. With the social media teams in full swing in Arlington, the Renegades account posted a video that included Sal exiting the bus with the squad.

A source within the league confirmed that Cannella is in Arlington for Training Camp, and will be re-signing with the Renegades.

Obviously, this is huge news for the organization. Sal Cannella has consistently been a top tight end in the spring football scene, dating back to The Spring League in 2020 with the Generals. He won the Championship that year alongside QB Bryan Scott.

In 2022, Sal joined the USFL and was a part of a talented New Orleans Breakers squad, one that made it to the postseason. Cannella earned All-USFL honors with 368 receiving yards and two touchdowns. In their playoff loss, he posted a whopping 154 yards.

Following the USFL season, Cannella had an NFL stint with the Green Bay Packers. He was ultimately released at the end of preseason.

This led to Sal making the move to the XFL. He reunited with quarterback Kyle Sloter in Arlington, and was one of the top targets for the team – posting 415 yards in 2023. Cannella was a huge piece to the team’s late Championship run, and he scored the first touchdown of the XFL Championship game.

After another impressive spring football campaign, Cannella landed with the Seattle Seahawks. Once again, he was let go as preseason came to a close.

Now, Sal is back in the spring football scene, and will look to continue his success this time in the United Football League.

Final Thoughts

The Arlington Renegades now appear to be fully set for the UFL season. General Manager Rick Mueller has looked to rebuild the roster to an extent, as Arlington has picked up quite a bit of talent during the offseason, and through the dispersal draft process.

As it stands right now, the Renegades tight end room consists of:

Sal Cannella
Austin Allen
Jared Scott
Seth Green

With training camp beginning, the first cuts will be on March 10th, as teams cut down from 75 to 58.
