Wednesday brought a bit more UFL movement to the table. OG Abdul Beecham re-signed to the St. Louis Battlehawks, and the Louisville Kings brought in a replacement at defensive back. Additionally, Birmingham released another big-name wide receiver.
Louisville Kings | CB DeAgo Brumfield
Fresh off the heels of Deantre Prince’s release, DeAgo Brumfield makes his way to the Louisville Kings. This is a secondary that has played at a high level through six weeks, and now brings in some reinforcements for the final few games.
Brumfield was a journeyman throughout his college career. He actually began his tenure in NAIA, at Campbellsville University. DeAgo earned Second-Team All-Mid-South Conference honors in 2022, which put him on the map of some bigger schools. Brumfield transferred to Memphis in 2023, with 42 tackles and an impressive 10 pass breakups that year.
DeAgo transferred to Mississippi State for his final two years of eligibility. He totaled 50 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, and eight pass breakups through a couple of seasons. DeAgo was eligible for this past NFL Draft, and now makes his way to the UFL after going undrafted. He’s a physical corner, who isn’t afraid to get involved in run defense reps – something that Louisville takes a lot of pride in defensively.
St. Louis Battlehawks | OG Abdul Beecham
Folks, he’s back. After several weeks without Abdul Beecham in the UFL, the Battlehawks have opted to bring the veteran back to bring depth and starting experience to their Offensive Line. Abdul, who spent two seasons in St. Louis, wasn’t retained by Ricky Proehl and this staff. In fact, he was picked up by the Dallas Renegades – and surprisingly was cut in camp.
Abdul Beecham has been in the spring football scene for a few years. Abdul played in The Spring League with the Blues in 2021. The next season, Beecham spent some time with the Pittsburgh Maulers in the USFL, starting throughout the season there. Abdul moved to the XFL in 2023, with the Orlando Guardians. During that season, he started in all ten games for the Guardians.

Beecham was primarily a reserve/backup with St. Louis in 2024. However, last season, he started in all four games he played. On 227 snaps, Abdul allowed just one sack and two pressures, with zero penalties. He’s a valuable interior piece who should see playing time down the stretch of the year.
Birmingham Stallions
The Birmingham Stallions have released WR John Ross. This move comes just several days after they cut Laviska Shenault Jr., another high profile, former NFL draft pick type of prospect.
Unfortunately, the John Ross experiment never really panned out in Birmingham. The former NFL first rounder with the Bengals is at the tail end of his career, and with all the wide receiver depth the Stallions have, he never quite found a groove. Ross had seven catches for 58 yards through several games. Injuries were a bit of a factor, cutting his stint short.
Stallions fans should not be worried about the releases of Ross and Shenault. They’ve gotten really solid play out of Deon Cain, Justyn Ross, Jaydon Mickens, and others so far.
