USFL Week 4 Gambling Preview And Picks

Philadelphia Stars vs Michigan Panthers

Spread: Michigan Panthers -1
Over/Under: 33.5
Moneyline: Michigan -115, Philadelphia -105

It was recently revealed that Philadelphia QB Bryan Scott will out indefinitely, meaning that backup Case Cookus will get the start. Cookus came into last week’s game and did well as he finished 13 for 20 with 146 yards and a touchdown. Michigan is riding the momentum off their first win of the season, but I think the smart play here is still to take Philadelphia +1 and the Over.

New Jersey Generals vs Pittsburgh Maulers

Spread: New Jersey Generals -10
Over/Under: 33.5
Moneyline: New Jersey -475, Pittsburgh +350

STAY AWAY! That about sums up how I feel about betting anything in this game besides taking the moneyline on the Generals. It is almost certain New Jersey will win as reflected by the numbers above, but 10 points is a lot. Especially after three weeks into a brand new league. Could they pull it off? Most certainly, but the Generals have had plenty of trouble scoring at times in this young season, so I just don’t think it is worth the risk here. Again, I think taking the moneyline on the Generals is a pretty safe bet.

Tampa Bay Bandits vs Birmingham Stallions

Spread: Birmingham Stallions -3.5
Over/Under: 39
Moneyline: Birmingham -180, Tampa Bay +155

This looks to be the most exciting game of the week as it features two of the league’s early season stars in quarterbacks Smith and Ta’amu. Birmingham might have the most complete team in the league, and have proved to be extremely tough. I think they grind out the win here but it should be a close game. The winning play again I think is Birmingham moneyline, and the over. A 3.5 point spread is always scary, if your service allows you then I also think buying it down to 2.5 is a good play, or 3 if you’re okay with taking the possible wash.

Houston Gamblers vs New Orleans Breakers

Spread: New Orleans Breakers -5
Over/Under: 39
Moneyline: New Orleans -210, Houston +175

Houston has some really nice pieces, but I just haven’t seen anything yet that makes me believe they can beat the Breakers. Sloter is one of the best in the league, and I can see Houston’s defense spending way too much time on the field. Best plays here I think are Breakers to cover the spread or moneyline them. The over under here probably isn’t worth the risk, just because Houston has been so incredibly inconsistent.
