UFL College Draft Breakdown: Birmingham Stallions

UFL College Draft Breakdown: Birmingham Stallions

Last Wednesday, the Birmingham Stallions participated in the UFL College Draft. They claimed the rights to ten players, all of whom are currently rostered with NFL organizations.

The Birmingham Stallions have won three championships in a row in spring football. They consistently put together some of the most complete rosters this scene has ever seen. Even without signing any of their draft picks from 2023, they still took advantage of the USFL College Draft. They picked up Adrian Martinez (New Jersey Generals draft selection), who ended up leading the team to another title – earning UFL MVP honors in the process.

Let’s take a look at who the Stallions picked up in the UFL College Draft this year.

OT Frank Crum | Wyoming

With their first pick in the draft, the Birmingham Stallions selected OT Frank Crum, out of Wyoming. Crum played the entirety of his college ball at Wyoming, starting in 49 of 55 games played there. Crum is a versatile lineman, having been moved around during his career. He is currently signed with the Denver Broncos. His 4.94 40 is quite impressive for someone of his size and stature.

OT Lorenzo Thompson | Rhode Island

Continuing the trend of offensive lineman in the early rounds, Birmingham snagged Lorenzo Thompson out of Rhode Island. Thompson was a starter at left tackle at Rhode Island for a few years, playing at a high level and earning multiple awards throughout his career – including All-CAA Football First Team honors in 2023. He was also a Team Captain in his senior season. Thompson has since signed with the Cleveland Browns.

RB Emani Bailey | TCU

With Ricky Person Jr. having headed to the NFL’s ranks in Seattle, Birmingham will have to find that next superstar at the running back position. While Emani Bailey is signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as of right now, he’s a talented prospect out of TCU who could prove to fit into Skip Holtz’ offense perfectly alongside C.J. Marable.

Bailey played at Louisiana from 2020-2021, before transferring to TCU for his final two seasons. Bailey racked up 1,209 rushing yards and eight touchdowns in his senior campaign at TCU, putting himself on the map of multiple NFL teams.

WR Isaiah Williams | Illinois

One of my favorite selections from this draft is Isaiah Williams; a wide receiver who is currently signed to the Detroit Lions. Williams played at Illinois throughout his college career, posting 2,298 receiving yards and 14 scores.

In his senior season, Williams had 1,055 yards – earning All-Big Ten First Team honors as a Team Captain. He’s dynamic with the ball in his hands, with 70% of his receiving yards coming after the catch. If he were to find his way into the Stallions electric offense, he’d fit right in.

TE Dallin Holker | Colorado State

The Colorado State product, Dallin Holker, is a monster. He recorded 767 receiving yards and six touchdowns during his senior season, leading all FBS tight ends in both categories. His efforts earned him second-team All-American honors from multiple NCAA selectors.

Prior to Colorado State, Holker played at BYU. He posted solid numbers there, but none of them come close to what he accomplished at CSU. Holker signed with the New Orleans Saints as an UDFA following the collegiate season.

DE Trajan Jeffcoat | Arkansas

Sticking with the New Orleans Saints UDFA’s, the Birmingham Stallions picked up DE Trajan Jeffcoat out of Arkansas. Jeffcoat played at Missouri for most of his college career, before transferring to Arkansas for his final season. Across his college days, Trajan racked up 99 tackles and 16.5 sacks. Jeffcoat is an explosive edge who would fit into a similar role to that of a Dondrea Tillman.

OT Andrew Coker | TCU

When it comes to finding quality offensive linemen, not many do it better than GM Zach Potter. Andrew Coker was a mainstay at TCU, starting in 45 straight games across a four year span. Andrew was a phenomenal piece to an excellent offense during his years at TCU, and was a Team Captain in 2023. Coker was invited to the 2024 East-West Shrine Bowl, and is signed to the NFL with the Las Vegas Raiders at the moment.

WR Ahmarean Brown | South Carolina

Ahmarean Brown is an intriguing pickup, being a bit of an undersized slot receiver (5’9”, 167 lbs.) out of South Carolina. He’s caught 92 passes for 1,136 yards and nine scores across his collegiate career. Brown is on the Cleveland Browns roster heading into Training Camp.

QB Sam Hartman | Notre Dame

It’s honestly surprising that Sam Hartman dropped all the way down to the ninth round, which is when the Birmingham Stallions selected him. Hartman had an unbelievable college career at Wake Forest and Notre Dame, throwing for over 15,600 yards and 134 touchdowns across that span. Hartman can use his legs as well, with 978 rushing yards and 20 scores on the ground to his name.

Sam is with the Washington Commanders right now, and is expected to make a solid run at making their roster or practice squad. That said, the Stallions are always adding quality signal callers to their organization, and Sam would be a fantastic addition if he becomes available.

OT Ethan Driskell | Marshall

Capping off the UFL College Draft for Birmingham is Ethan Driskell, as the fourth offensive linemen selected. Driskell is signed to the Kansas City Chiefs roster, but is certainly a prospect who could become available. Ethan played at Marshall throughout his college career, starting in his final 24 games at the school. He’s moved around at tackle, and is a versatile athlete who is more than capable of playing at the professional level.

Final Thoughts

The Birmingham Stallions are the gold standard when it comes to spring football. Skip Holtz, Zach Potter, and the rest of the crew know how to win – and, they know how to attract and sign winners.

With these UFL College Draft picks, while most likely won’t sign to Birmingham for 2025, there’s plenty of talent within these selections that could end up being quite beneficial down the road. For the Stallions, their journey to attempt a four peat begins now.
