XFL Uniforms Revealed For XFL 2023 Season

Ranking The XFL Uniforms: Which Teams Rise Above The Rest?

Yesterday, the XFL dropped some drip for the fans. After a long and anticipated wait, official uniforms for every XFL franchise were released. Each team will have a pair of home and away designs, inspired by the culture from their respective cities.

Under Armour was announced as the official partner for the XFL, which is no surprise. Considering Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s ties with the brand, it made sense for the two to collaborate.

So far, these new uniforms have received mixed responses from fans of the league. Let’s take a look at each uniform, and subjectively rank their appearances.

#8: Arlington Renegades

Sitting in last place are the Arlington Renegades, who saw a major rebrand. The logo, the city, and now the uniforms have all shifted since the team’s 2020 iteration. Unfortunately, this set of jerseys seems to fall flat, especially compared to what the originals looked like.

While the home uniform takes advantage of a baby blue foundation, the away uniform just feels like it’s missing a special factor. Something about the design within the numbers feels a bit off, which is unfortunate. The Dallas Renegades had a much better overall brand.

#7: Houston Roughnecks

The Houston Roughnecks received a complete overhaul for 2023. It makes sense, given the trademark issues the organization was having with the NFL. Houston’s helmet now takes inspiration from Texas’ state flag, which is a bold move from the league. The Roughnecks by no means have a bad brand, but both the home and away designs are a bit clunky – especially compared to their 2020 XFL counterparts.

#6: Vegas Vipers

The cunning Vegas Vipers are a perfect example of clean, simple, and reserved. The familiar black and red design doesn’t stand out compared to other uniforms, but it serves its purpose quite well. A snake skin texture within the numbers gives Vegas their own identity as they head into the valley for 2023.

#5: St. Louis Battlehawks

St. Louis still has one of the best brands in the XFL, but it doesn’t reflect the same amount of creativity and innovation as the team did in 2020. It all starts with the helmet, which is no longer blue – and is missing the sword that once dominated the top section.

As for the uniforms, they aren’t bad by any means. In fact, the homes resemble that of the Indianapolis Colts. That being said, it’s frustrating to see this step backwards in design. At least the logo itself kept its unique identity, but these uniforms do not live up to the hype of the original copies.

#4: Seattle Sea Dragons

Alright, enough of the negativity. The Seattle Sea Dragons are coming into 2023 with some heat. They ditched the dark navy color scheme used in 2020 – and somehow, some way, pulled it off. The fiery orange dominates both the helmet, and the uniforms across the board. The away jerseys could’ve used a bit more of a punch, but overall the Sea Dragons are looking sweet.

#3: Orlando Guardians

Orlando has a strange – yet, very intriguing take on their new uniforms. Right off the bat, they feel extremely similar to the Alphas, who were a part of The Spring League in 2020 and 2021. The two shades of green accentuate each other quite well. At first, the lime green in the logo seemed like a bit of a stretch, but these uniforms bring the brand together in a cohesive way. Orlando will be electrifying in 2023, especially sporting jerseys like these.

#2: DC Defenders

Defend the DMV. That is exactly what your DC Defenders will be doing come February. These uniforms take a simple concept and make it into something spectacular. It all starts with the details – specifically, on the shoulders. The stripes of DC’s official flag are intertwined into the design, while a reserved camouflage pattern is featured on the helmet. While the Defenders’ new logo isn’t perfect, these uniforms are some of the cleanest in the XFL.

#1: San Antonio Brahmas

Without a doubt, the San Antonio Brahmas have the best uniforms in the XFL. It isn’t easy to pull off a color scheme quite like San Antonio’s – but the XFL knocked it out of the ballpark. The home jerseys hold a resemblance to the San Diego Fleet’s of the AAF, and bring the Brahmas’ tough attitude straight to the heart of San Antonio. Meanwhile, the bold yellow dominates the away uniforms, which is a breath of fresh air. It’s a perfect combo. With these fresh designs, the Brahmas will be winning on and off the gridiron.

Final Thoughts

Generally speaking, the “looks” appeal of any uniform is subjective. Everyone has their own opinions, perspectives, and preferences – and we encourage every reader to come to their own conclusions on the XFL’s new jerseys.

Here at the XFL Newsroom, we can’t wait to see all eight franchises hit the field in February, sporting their new designs. Make sure to stay tuned in, to stay up to date with everything going on across the league.
