The San Antonio Brahmas have their roster set for the 2025 UFL season, and are poised to once again be a tough competitor. This roster has been improved and tweaked, with GM Marc Lillibridge bringing in some of the UFL’s finest for the upcoming campaign.

The Brahmas are fresh off of a Championship run, but have a bitter taste in their mouths after being shut out in the finale by Birmingham. They’ll look to rewrite the script this season – and certainly have the talent to do so.
Quarterbacks
Kellen Mond
Kevin Hogan
Jarrett Guarantano
The San Antonio Brahmas will feature a much different quarterback room in 2025. The only returnee is Kevin Hogan, who primarily was QB3 last year. Hogan is expected to retain a similar role this year, as an emergency QB who can come in and run the offense if it’s desperately needed.

Highlighting the new additions is Kellen Mond – the former Texas A&M standout who makes his way to the UFL after failing to remain on an NFL roster. Mond was a draft pick by the Vikings a few years ago, but didn’t exactly live up to expectations during his time in the league. However, his talent is undeniable – and the upside for development is there. Kellen will be the team’s starter in 2025, and for good reason. The tangibles he has as a leader and a professional were on full display in Training Camp – and now it’s time to see how he can perform as a starter at the spring level.
What makes Mond so intriguing is his dual threat capabilities. Coaches in San Antonio have raved about what Kellen has been able to do so far in camp. Making the tough throws, throwing on the run, and also knowing when to use his legs. If Kellen can live up to expectations, he might be in conversations for league MVP this season.
Breaking: The San Antonio Brahmas have signed former @XFLRoughnecks QB Jarrett Guarantano.
Guarantano entered the 2024 #UFL season as Houston's starter, but injuries sidelined him most of the year.
Jarrett now gets a fresh start with the @XFLBrahmas. #UFL pic.twitter.com/4biAUGEwt5
— James Larsen (@JamesLarsenPFN) January 30, 2025
Closing out the signal callers is Jarrett Guarantano, who spent this past UFL season in Houston. Guarantano was the Roughnecks starter to begin the year, but injuries kept him sidelined for an extended period. The former Tennessee Volunteer flashed some potential with Houston, and certainly could make an impact in San Antonio with the coaching of OC A.J. Smith.
Running Backs
Anthony McFarland
John Lovett
Jashaun Corbin
The running back room in San Antonio is stacked. John Lovett is coming off a tremendous campaign with the Brahmas, where he rushed for 401 yards and five touchdowns, in just eight games. John has been in the spring scene for a couple of years with the Vipers and Brahmas – proving to be one of the UFL’s top backs this past season. He’ll certainly be heavily in the mix once again for carries in 2025.

At the very last moment, Anthony McFarland returned to the team as camp got under way. McFarland was arguably the UFL’s most electrifying player when healthy – with the ability to blow by anyone in open space. His speed is crucial to both the ground game, and coming out of the backfield to catch screens and short routes. Anthony has the potential to be an All-UFL running back if he can stay healthy for the full season. Expect the majority of reps to go to Lovett and McFarland once again.
When Wade Phillips said that RB Anthony McFarland is "faster than everybody", he wasn't kidding.
What a start for this @XFLBrahmas offense. Like I said, it's going to be a lot more dynamic than last year. #UFL

Jashaun Corbin is an exciting addition as well. The two have NFL experience, with Corbin having spent a couple of years with the New York Giants.

With an impressive mix of speed, explosiveness, and strength in this backfield, the Brahmas are set to feature some seriously capable playmakers at the position.
Wide Receivers
Jontre Kirklin
Justin Smith
Marquez Stevenson
Greg Ward
Mathew Sexton
Racey McMath
Jacob Harris
Kawaan Baker
Ra’Shaun Henry*
The San Antonio Brahmas are looking at an improved and adjusted WR core in 2025, although they’ve retained the key pieces. Jontre Kirklin, Justin Smith, and Marquez Stevenson are all back in action for another year. Kirklin was integral to San Antonio’s offense, leading the UFL in targets and receptions this past season. When healthy, Jontre is nothing short of electric – even using his arm strength to throw touchdowns on trick plays.
JONTRE KIRKLIN IS TOO GOOD 😱

Stevenson and Smith are both solid retentions. Smith showed plenty of growth this year as a WR, making an impact in their playoff win over St. Louis. Meanwhile, Stevenson was a gadget guy that fit into A.J. Smith’s offense perfectly. Marquez is used in motion pre-snap more often than basically any player in the league, and will be vital to the Brahmas’ success both offensively and on special teams.

The Brahmas have added quite a few pieces, though. Most notably, spring football fans in San Antonio will recognize Greg Ward – who played with the AAF’s Commanders in 2019. Ward has since spent a few years with the Eagles, but now returns to his roots in the UFL.
Once a quarterback now starring at wideout, @aafcommanders @G_Ward1 is wowing in The Alliance.

Mathew Sexton is an excellent pickup, having been one of the XFL’s leading receivers in 2023 with the Vipers – leading to an NFL stint with the Dolphins. Sexton was also a TSL stand out as a returner. Jacob Harris, on the other hand, could be Cody Latimer’s replacement to an extent. He’s a WR/TE hybrid, very similar to what Cody brought to the table. He’s another player who’s had an excellent camp performance.
Finally, Kawaan Baker, Racey McMath, and Ra’Shaun Henry joining the team are all big pickups as well. Baker, the former New Orleans Saint, is an impressive addition who should make an impact on weekends. McMath and Henry are both similar prospects, looking to get their pro careers back on track with the Brahmas. Racey is a guy that has been praised by Kellen Mond – so keep an eye out for him to get involved in the offense early on. Henry is currently on IR for the Brahmas.
Tight Ends
Alize Mack
Izaiah Gathings
"I'll take that" – #88 Alize Mack@XFLBrahmas #XFL2023 pic.twitter.com/KDyEwydjyY
— United Football League (@TheUFL) February 26, 2023
At tight end, the Brahmas only bring back Alize Mack, with Cody Latimer retiring following his week nine injury a year ago. Mack has been in San Antonio the last two years – and while he’s primarily been a blocker – with Latimer out of the picture, he could certainly see more targets. Alize has been efficient, especially in the red zone, the last two years. Izaiah Gathings was a late add in camp, but he’s another prospect who’s expected to see production. Gathings has spent time at WR and TE throughout his career – so if A.J. Smith is looking to utilize a tight end in the passing game as he usually does, Izaiah will fit right into those schemes.
Offensive Line
Aaron Monteiro
Greg Eiland
Chuck Filiaga
Sam Tecklenburg
Derrick Kelly II
Zuri Henry
Willie Tyler
Vitaliy Gurman
The San Antonio Brahmas boasted one of the top offensive line units in the league a year ago, and look primed to have the same success in 2025. They’re returning starters in Greg Eiland, Aaron Monteiro, Chuck Filiaga, and Sam Tecklenburg – all players who made an impact last season. They’ve also brought back Derrick Kelly II, who missed last season due to an injury.
San Antonio has also signed a few new faces to the O-Line unit. Zuri Henry, Willie Tyler, and Vitaliy Gurman all make their way to San Antonio. Each has the potential to crack the starting rotation, with their backgrounds and success in college and/or the NFL. Even without Kohl Levao, this Brahmas offensive line unit is shaping up to be one of the best groups in the UFL.
Defensive Line
Tackles
Prince Emili
Caeveon Patton
Jacob Sykes
Rashard Lawrence
Defensive, the San Antonio Brahmas are even more stacked than they were last year. DC Will Reed did a tremendous job working with this roster in 2024, and now has more talent to work with, which should result in higher quality of play – if that’s even possible.
DEFENSE!!! 🔥#TorosUnidos pic.twitter.com/Xm1hLidnQS
— San Antonio Brahmas (@XFLBrahmas) June 10, 2024
Prince Emili, Caeveon Patton, and Jacob Sykes are all back in action at DT. Prince Emili, in particular, stood out last year with his playmaking abilities. He’s someone who should be back in the starting rotation. Sykes is a young prospect who flashed some brilliance during his time on the field last year as well.

— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) July 9, 2018
On top of those retentions, the Brahmas signed Rashad Lawrence. Rashard, a former draft pick by the Cardinals, has 30 tackles to his name in the NFL, but injuries have hampered his career. If healthy, Lawrence will be a pivotal addition to this defense.
EDGE
Garrett Nelson
Kobe Jones
Rashod Berry
Ikenna Enechukwu
Lonnie Phelps
Toby Ndukwe
At EDGE, San Antonio has made changes. This is partially due to some players choosing to not return. Wyatt Ray and Delontae Scott will not be back in action, leaving Garrett Nelson as the lone edge rusher from last year. Garrett showed growth in his role throughout the year, and is expected to continue that trend this upcoming season.
Even though Ray and Scott won’t be back, the Brahmas are still loaded. Rashod Berry and Lonnie Phelps highlight some of the players who have NFL experience. Berry is arguably the most talented of the bunch – but off-field issues have kept him out of the NFL the last couple of years. The same can be said for Phelps. If the two of them can show growth in character and remain on the field in the UFL, they should be an excellent pairing at EDGE.

Ikenna Enechukwu and Toby Ndukwe are a couple of younger prospects who have tasted the NFL, but haven’t been able to stick. Both are athletic, and can get after the quarterback in a hurry. With some development, the two should certainly make an impact for San Antonio.
Linebackers
Tavante Beckett
Jordan Williams
Nate Wieland
Tariq Carpenter
At linebacker, the Brahmas have retained their two top playmakers from last year, in Tavante Beckett and Jordan Williams. Beckett was named to the All-UFL Defense this past season, after posting 74 tackles and nine TFL’s. In his spring career, Tavante has over 130 tackles to his name. While he’s a bit undersized, Beckett is one of the smartest players in the scene – which is why he’s been so valuable to Wade Phillips’ defenses the last two seasons.
LB Tavante Beckett is having a tremendous season for the @XFLBrahmas:
40 Tackles (T-1st)
4 TFL (T-8th)
2 FF (1st)
82.8 PFF GradeHad a monstrous 14 tackle performance this past weekend. Beckett is no doubt a #UFL Defensive POTY candidate – and deserves an NFL look this summer. pic.twitter.com/0Y8govNxNP
— James Larsen (@JamesLarsenPFN) May 3, 2024
Williams was All-XFL in 2023, and also will be back in action for a third year in a Brahmas uniform. Nate Wieland went down with a season ending injury in week one, but with a full year of recovery, will hopefully be ready to go come March 29th.
Tariq Carpenter, formerly a safety, now makes this Brahmas roster playing linebacker. He has experience at both positions, but has moved into more of a traditional LB role with San Antonio, per DC Will Reed. Given the lack of depth at LB on this roster for San Antonio, it’s not a surprise to see this change happen. Nate Wieland is another veteran in this scene, who missed almost the entire season last year due to injury. He’s a quality rotational piece, and also contributes on special teams.
Defensive Backs
Darius Phillips
Corey Mayfield Jr.
BoPete Keyes
Jordan Mosley
Greedy Williams
William Hooper
Chris Steele
Henry Black
Jalen Elliott
The secondary unit in San Antonio has seen some adjustments, but they also have retained key components from 2024. Most notably, Darius Phillips has re-signed – as one of the top corners from a season ago. Darius continually took tough assignments from week to week, excelling in them all. Corey Mayfield Jr. is another impressive retention, as he saw growth throughout the season in the Brahmas’ secondary.

Jordan Mosley returns at safety, after being 2nd in the league with tackles (75) last year. He’s a hard hitting DB who plays smart football, and is expected to see similar success this season. BoPete Keyes was another rotational piece that made an impact when healthy. He had 14 tackles and a PBU in six games.
Highlighting the newcomers is Greedy Williams, who was formerly a second round draft pick with the Browns. Williams comes in as someone with starter potential, who could be an outstanding duo with Phillps. Henry Black is another signing with true NFL experience, with 38 tackles and an interception with the Packers in 2021. Chris Steele and Jalen Elliott round out the secondary as two players who also have NFL experience, and are upgrades from the players San Antonio featured in these positions a season ago.

Across the board, the Brahmas have a stronger secondary, without any weak points. They’ll be tough to throw against in 2025, especially with the mix of veterans and younger prospects.
Special Teams
K Donald De La Haye
P Brad Wing
LS Cameron Lyons
At kicker, the San Antonio Brahmas have brought back Donald De La Haye Jr., aka “Deestroying”. He was the starting PK for two weeks, but an injury in week two resulted in him missing the entire season. De La Haye was a top kickoff specialist in the UFL prior to injury, but did not attempt any field goals. It will be interesting to see if the Youtuber-Turned-Athlete can actually make his mark this year.
The #UFL kickoff rules require kickers to feature a big leg. We've heard ST coaches mention this time and time again leading up to the UFL season.

Brad Wing returns as punter, after serving the Brahmas with elite specialist play from 2023-2024. He’s a character both on and off the field, and brings juice to Payton Pardee’s special teams unit. The lone new addition is Cameron Lyons, who replaces Rex Sunahara at long snapper. Lyons, the former New York Giant, took over for Dalton Godfrey during camp.
Final Thoughts
It should be a thrilling season for the San Antonio Brahmas, as their team looks even stronger as they look to defend their XFL Conference Title. It won’t be easy, but with the resumes of their players and coaching staff, they’ve got all the firepower they need to get the job done.
