Texas Syndicate Join Continental Football League For 2026

This morning, the Continental Football League (COFL) announced the Texas Syndicate as its second franchise for their inaugural season kicking off in 2026. The Syndicate are the first of four teams to join the league who will compete in the COFL’s South Division.

The Austin, Texas based Syndicate positions the COFL in the heart of football country. Per the league’s press release, Texas Syndicate’s CEO Quincy Workman stated the following “We’re not here to experiment. We’re here to execute,” he further added “The Syndicate is bigger than football. It’s about building opportunities, uniting the hustle, and showing the world what Texas talent can do.” Workman also states “We don’t just play in Central Texas. We play for Central Texas”.

Texan native, Ned Herrington will serve as the team’s general manager and lead football operations. Herrington will be responsible for an array of duties, that include roster building, securing sponsorships and ensuring the Syndicate’s long-term sustainability. Prior to the announcement, the team started recruiting players and will be announcing coaches in the weeks to come.

COFL commissioner Mike Kelly acknowledged the announcement saying, “Adding a team like the Texas Syndicate sends a message,” further added “This league is for builders. Quincy and his team bring professionalism, purpose, and a relentless drive that aligns perfectly with the CoFL’s vision. Central Texas just became a lot more interesting.”

To date, the Texas Syndicate joins the Ohio Valley Ironmen as the COFL’s pair of announced teams who will participate in the reintroduced league’s 2026 season that will feature eight teams.

Texas Syndicate History:

The Texas Syndicate went public in June 2025 and were initially revealed by the new Professional Independent Football League as a member for the league’s inaugural 2026 season. However, at the time the Syndicate were in communication and vetting with multiple leagues before finalizing its membership to join the Continental Football League.

Continental Football League History:

The COFL originally played five seasons from 1965 to 1969, before teams departed for other leagues, forcing it to cease operations after the conclusion of its 1969 season. The league featured numerous National Football League alumni, as well as Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees: Ken Stabler, Doak Walker, Bill Walsh and Steve Van Buren.

The league publicly relaunched in September 2025 under the leadership of commissioner Mike Kelly. The new COFL is community owned, and the fan focused league is positioning itself as the lone “AA” professional football league. It plans to launch in May 2026 with eight teams competing in two divisions (North and South).
