After the CFL missed the entirety of 2020 and saw a delay in 2021, the 108th Grey Cup is nearly here.
Before the league kicked off this year there was some doubt if the season would even take place. Additionally, in March it was announced that the CFL and XFL were officially talking about a possible business relationship. After many months of silence and speculation, the two leagues announced they would be going their own way for the time being.
This news came just a few weeks before the CFL finally hit the field again for the first time on over a year.
Last weekend we saw the Eastern and Western finals to determine who would stamp their ticket to Hamilton to play in the championship. First up we watched the Hamilton Tiger-Cats come back from behind to take out the Toronto Argonauts; effectively giving them home field advantage.
The late game was something you didn’t want to miss either. In a back of forth matchup the Winnipeg Blue Bombers edged out the Saskatchewan Rough Riders to keep their season alive.
With the conference finals now in the books, all eyes are on Hamilton, Ontario, Canada where the CFL is hosting a slew of events for the Grey Cup. Rounding out the week will be the Grey Cup at Tim Hortons Field. Naturally, the first thing to kick off all of the events during Grey Cup week in Hamilton, was the arrival of the trophy itself.

Wednesday we also saw press conferences from both team coaches. This is where we learned that Dane Evans will start at QB for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats this Sunday.
It’s never easy because I don’t like letting people down,” Steinauer said. “You have to make a decision. That’s what I get paid to do.”
Earlier today Randy Abrosie took the stage to discuss the State of the League, detailing the events of the past year.
Just looking at each team 2021 record it would seem that the Blue Bombers have an edge, coming into the post season at 11-3; with the Tiger-Cats having 8 wins and five losses. But, Hamilton was able to take out the Argos last week who had a better record. Most importantly, the Tiger-Cats will have a home field advantage.
The game takes place at Tim Hortons Field, but if you don’t have a ticket already you’re out of luck; it’s completely sold out. That being said, there’s options on both sides of the border.
In Canada the game will be aired on TSN as usual. Fans in the United States, well it’s now a lot easier to watch the game. This year the CFL Grey Cup will be televised on ESPN2 or ESPN+ in the US.
