Pittsburgh Maulers Re-Sign TE Matt Seybert For 2024 Season

Pittsburgh Maulers Re-Sign TE Matt Seybert For 2024 Season

Matt Seybert is officially returning to the Pittsburgh Maulers for another season in the USFL. Throughout the past two years, Seybert has been a key piece to Pittsburgh’s offense, and that won’t be changing any time soon.

Seybert broke out during his 2019 season at Michigan State, posting 284 yards and three touchdowns. From there, he’s had quite the journey.

Matt played for the Conquerors in The Spring League in 2020 and 2021. He caught three passes for 88 yards, including two touchdowns.

This led to an opportunity with the Los Angeles Chargers. Seybert spent some time with the NFL organization during the 2021 preseason, but was ultimately released.

Then, Matt Seybert landed in the USFL. In the 2022 season, he recorded five receptions for 34 yards, and a touchdown in the final game of the year.

During the 2023 campaign, Seybert played a bigger role. He started in four of ten regular season games for Pittsburgh, but was a pillar as a blocking tight end – who can also run routes at a high level. Matt posted 118 receiving yards this year, making an impact offensively.

Final Thoughts

Now, he’s set to return for another season in the USFL with the Pittsburgh Maulers. With a new GM at the helm in Dennis Polian, they’ve been quite aggressive in re-signing athletes:

RB Madre London
WR Tre Walker
OT Justin Evans
OG Jon Dietzen
C Brayden Patton
C Xavier Dampeer
DL Chris Okoye Jr.
DT Terry Beckner Jr.
DT Will Miles
DE Nasir Player
CB Keith Gipson Jr.
S Malcolm Elmore

After a Championship run in 2023, the Pittsburgh Maulers will look to run it back with the majority of the same players in 2024.
