New Orleans Breakers Re-Sign Four Players For 2024 Season

New Orleans Breakers Re-Sign Four Players For 2024 Season

The New Orleans Breakers have all of a sudden been quite busy in free agency. The team has re-signed another four players this week, including:

WR Jonathan Adams
OL Jackson Kramer
DT Connor Christian
DE Anree Saint-Amour

After a slow couple of months, General Manager Ryan Jones has been quickly picking up USFL athletes on expired contracts.

WR Jonathan Adams

Arguably the most important signing in this bunch is Jonathan Adams, who has been one of the key playmakers with the Breakers through two seasons.

In 2022, Adams was excellent. He caught 31 passes for 406 yards and three touchdowns, being a go-to guy for QB Kyle Sloter. Jonathan had a couple of ridiculous highlights last year, making an unreal one handed grab in a week two matchup against Tampa Bay.

In week four against the Houston Gamblers, Jonathan Adams had more magic up his sleeve. He caught a walk off touchdown from Sloter, which resulted in a key division victory.

During the 2023 season, QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson relied on Adams often. He finished the year with 511 receiving yards, and two touchdowns. Adams also had a score during the postseason matchup against Birmingham.

With Jonathan Adams returning to the wide receiver core for the 2024 season, New Orleans is in excellent hands – no pun intended.

OL Jackson Kramer

The New Orleans Breakers retained a key piece to their offensive line, re-signing Jackson Kramer who has been a starter for two years.

Kramer played a major role in New Orleans featuring one of the strongest rushing games in the USFL – not just in 2022, but also in 2023. Wes Hills set a USFL record for the most rushing yards in a season this year, which would not have been possible without the quality play of Kramer.

After starting all ten games during the 2023 season, Kramer is set to see a similar role next year.

DT Connor Christian

Connor Christian is an underrated lineman, who has served the Breakers with solid minutes as a role player. During the 2022 season, Connor posted 18 tackles, and two sacks for New Orleans.

In 2023, Christian played in nine games for the Breakers. He finished the year with 16 tackles, and two sacks, making an impact in the trenches.

DE Anree Saint-Amour

The New Orleans Breakers defense doesn’t get talked about enough, and neither do their playmakers. Anree Saint-Amour has been one of the top defensive ends since joining the USFL in 2022. Saint-Amour had an excellent 2022 season, posting 37 tackles and two sacks.

This year, he built upon what was an already impressive campaign. Anree started in all ten games – and while he finished the year with 31 tackles, he notched six sacks which was third in the USFL for that category. Saint-Amour also had seven TFL this season.

Anree Saint-Amour garnered some interest from the New Orleans Saints, being hosted for a workout during training camp. Now, he re-signs with the New Orleans Breakers for the 2024 USFL season.

Final Thoughts

Amidst the merger rumors, it is business as usual for the New Orleans Breakers. The team recently re-signed punter Matt White and long snapper Turner Bernard.

They also just brought back safety Jarey Elder, which is an important move for their defense.
